JL w1 vs. Memphis m1

Here is my question. I have a custom built box to go under my seat of my 04' supercrew. i had the same box with two ten inch memphis M class. they sounded real good, but i want something louder. This is a sealed box that calls for two downfire tens. I just dont know if i want to put JL w1s or Memphis M1s. i havent heard the m1s, and have only heard w1s that were 12s. still very loud though. amp and everything is already taken care of. let me know what yall think.

i have never heard the m1's either but from what i do know about memphis i would go that route, memphis get extremely loud and are great subs, i have heard the w1's in person(installed a pair) and i was far from impressed

There had to be a problem somewhere then... Because I have installed countless W1's and for the class they are in are pretty damn good.

Matter of fact, my bestfriend switched his M-class for W1's.

W1's Are a great sub, for there class they compete some other companies subs that are supose to be one step up.

If you want, i have a pair of 4ohm 10W1, that i would sell to you at a real reasonable price. Just PM me!

well i think they were a bit under powered but they were in a huge sealed box probaly twice the recommended air space but they were run off a jl audio e1100.1(i thinks thats the correct model) but the gain was almost all the way up but not quite and you couldnt tell he had subs outside of the car i have heard some in other cars though that i must admit sounded amazing but they were not spl subs by any means, but either one is a good choice, memphis and jl are both great companies

I had 2 10w1v2's that I sold two days ago. I loved the subs and they sounded great, but they wernt very loud. They had good sound, and would definatly fill the cab, but didnt project any. Plus, I had to leave the sub box propped up cause my subs would bottom out. I was powering them with a JL 500/1, turned down cause it was way to much power. Now, I am the proud new owner of a JL 12w6v2. I took out the right back seat, the small one, and put the box there. I will get pics of it in a little while when I get a chance. Now this sub is freeking crazy. Sounds awsome, looks awsome, and if you want it to then it will project like a ****. The amp is only turned half way up for two weeks for break in, then the real power will show.

I haven't compared those two subs, but from personal experience, I'd choose Memphis over JL any day.
