Audio Set-up

Hi I am new to forums but I would like to get everyone's opinion on my set-up that I will be going for!

Kenwood Excelon DNX8120
2 Boston Acoustics G5 10-44
2 Boston Acoustics GTR 10
2 Kicker SS65.2 Components Sets(Front)
2 Kicker KS690 6x9 Sets(Rear)
Kicker SX1250.1 Subwoofer Amp
Kicker SX700.4 Component & 6x9 Amp

Also I am not to sure on where I would get a seat fit kit for the rear what do you guys think would be best? I am located in Dallas, Tx!

Looks like it should be a pretty solid setup, not bad

Will you have room for the two subs, plus the two PRs?? Not box volume, but just box width? You should be able to fit 50+ inches across the box, but with the driveshaft hump in the middle will you have room between there and the box? I guess Im just assuming your are running these all downfiring? Im curious what your box plans look like though.

Guys seems pretty happy with there LMI seat lifts I guess. LMIWelding.com is the website I believe.

Wink

I have a 2007 F150 Supercrew by the way! Also the sub set-up will have the 2 G5 on the outside w/ 6.75" mounting depth downfiring! The GTRs are 3" mounting depth and will be beside the upfiring! The box will be split in halves and there will be one sub and one GTR in each halve. Sealed enclosure with 3" lift should do correct?

Why do this?!? Everything I see up there is more of an SQ setup. The KS 6x9's are NO SQ DRIVERS!! I would consider them more SPL. Then you are pulling your soundstage way rearward. (I know I am starting to like the front stage only....)

Good call....I didnt even notice those on his list.

Im with Low...ditch the 6x9s.....if you think you need something in the rear, then just put in something that will drop in (5x7) so you dont have to cut either.

I was just tryin to put somethin in the rear and those were some low market kicker 6x9s so I put them on list! No really sure difference in SQ and SPL but I think SQ is like at bass comps and if so I want a lot of it! Also I didn't want to waste Amps as I already have them from a previous set-up! But I definately want more sound comin from front goin to the rear! So I should go 5x7s no amp? Just use comps on amp?

Also should I get head unit first then speakers? Or vice versa really doesn't matter to me but head unit makes change first compared to a factory on subs don't you think?

Question

Does anyone have any kicker experience? Which 5x7s should I get with those comps or should I go with a whole different interior speaker set-up! I want front and rear speakers!

Wow was way off on SQ and SPL! So what type of KKR set-up would you reccomend in my truck with front and rear on a SX700.4 Amp? Just because it is a SQ set-up does that mean it won't do so hot on the SPL scene? Thx in advance for help!

Anyone have any advice on my latest question? Also since I am located in Dallas, Tx can anyone refer a good shop for me to get a custom box for my subs?

For the most part sq and spl are at opposite sides of the spectrum, very few companys make the middle type of speaker which is known as an SQL (not sure if this is formal or not). In terms of door speakers normally a spl type speaker for a door is just designed to be loud and handles higher amounts of power, where as a sq door speaker is lower power handling, and designed for clarity. Then obviously sql is the median of both.

So if your wanting an all out spl truck ,and you throw in some mb quart components you might not be getting what your looking for, but in the same sense MB Quarts were plenty loud enough for me, and im 21 and dumb

Yeah I kinda linger around this section! One because I love car audio and used to be down with it all! But have gotten away been like 5 years! So I really wanna get back into it and start with havin a great sounding system in my truck! I know I am definately going with the BA G5 and GTR set-up for subs as that is like havin 4 10s but I am unsure what component set-up would top them off! I just know that I already have the 1250.1 and 700.4 just trying to figure out what I will hook them to and solicit some ideas!

If its an all out SPL freak with KKR's name on it, do 2 sets of the KS 6.5 coax with a KS seperate in the KPs in the front. And an extra set of KS coaxs in the rear.

If its more of an SQ build, do 2 sets of SS or RS 6.5's and a SSMB8 in the KP. (This will also give you a hell of a lot of output) Nothing in the rear.

In this set-up are you saying 6 speakers total? That's is what I am reading if I am not wrong!
SPL: 2 KS 6.5 in front and 1 KS in rear!
SQ: 2 SS 1 in front and 1 in rear or RS 6.5 in rear and SSMB8 in front!
