Need Speaker Input/Advice

Ok, I'm very much nearing the "order phase" of putting my system together, but need some input. I have a very odd work schedule, and live a quite a ways from any shop that would not only carry these, but have them hooked up for me to compare, but I would like some input on the following:

Door Components: I'm leaning toward the Alpine SPX-17PRO in the front and SPX-13PRO in the rear. The thinking is, I don't want to make any new holes anywhere, and I can mount the tweeter and speaker in the same plate for the rear, while using the tweeter mount already in the door in the front. The other alternative would be JL Audio's ZR series, but I'm not sure that the JL's are worth the extra bucks.

SUBS: I plan on ordering a 2x10" enclosure from supercrewsound and using JL Audios 10W3v3. The higher end JL Audios are too deep for the box, and I need to be able to fold my seat up, so I understand a seat lift is out. Are these going to be on par with the door speakers, or do I need for find something else?

I will be powering it all with Alpine PDX Amps (4.100, and 1.1000)

If anyone could pass on some words of encouragement, or stop me from doing something stuipid, let me know! Y'alls help has been greatly apreciated!

The W3s are going to struggle in that box, they are pretty deep, and will slap the floor. I'd look for a sub with 5" depth or less, like the ED 11kv.2 or the IDQ v.2 subs.

Cant help you with the rears since I dont have any back doors....Im sure you could fab something up fairly easy though..

As for the subs and box, without a seatlift, I dont know if you will get W3V3s too fit, as Msall said. You will have to find something along the lines of what he mentioned to fit without a seat lift.

Im not to familiar with the underseat boxes, but can you even flip the seat up with ANY box???? I would think the box would get in the way, but like I said Im no expert when it comes to the under the seat stuff.

It is my understanding that with a seat lift you can not flip the seat up again, unless you take the lift back out. With just a box and no lift, I can, when the box is installed correctly, farily easily remove the box if I had to and still flip the seats up. Just my thinking though. I'm not expert either, that's why I'm counting on y'all!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be looking into both these companies. Just so I know, do I need a sub with 5" depth or less for the standard box (5.25" mount depth) or with the additional 5/8" depth added that they offer (thus making it a 5.875" mounting depth)? Does anyone know where this extra depth comes from? I certainly don't need to be hitting the floor with these things.

Yeah, those w3v3's wont fit the supercrew box even with the extra mounting depth option they offer. Those w3v3's are about 5.92" mounting depth. There is a guy on here that did it by modding his box though. He either used a supercrew sound or musicmoose box. Do a search if you want to use those subs.

To help with your question about the mounting depth option, it will depend on the subs you use. Not all 5" m/depth subs are created equal. Any that have a vented pole piece on the outside of the magnet will require a little more space behind them. Most of the newer subs vent on the other side of the magnet making them fine to bumb up tight to the back of the box. The extra depth option comes from them cutting open the top piece of the box and placing another piece of mdf on the outside of the box. The cutout is only about the size of a speaker magnet just so it can sit in there. The reason it still works without a seat lift is because only a small portion of the box is deeper so it just crushes into the seat bottom to where as if the whole box were deeper the seat wouldnt go down. I hope I didnt confuse you any.

I hope this helped some,

P.S. Hey CJ, The truck looks great with the new rims.
