Help with audiophile Sub connector
Help with audiophile Sub connector
I am a little bit confused now because I now have an 08 F150 which didnt come with the audiophile stereo and have taken the stereo and speakers out of my 05 which had the audiophile system. Now I plugged the connectors into the HU and had to pull the Sub plug from the little storage blankoff on the harness, but what really is bothering me is that I know where the connector should be to plug into the Sub/amp unit but for the life of me cannot find one. I find it kind of strainge that Ford would put the connector there for the head unit but wouldnt terminate it with another plug for the sub/amp unit. Does anyone know anything about this on the 08's and if they may have stashed the sub plug somewhere else? I know my 05 has two shielded wires running down the driver side under the plastic step and they go right to the connector for the sub, but on the 08 the shielded wires run down the same way but when it gets past the driver seat it runs behind both front seats to the other side and back up front under the passenger front plastic step and after it goes up inside the dash is where I lose it. I have been under the carpet in the whole back seat area on both sides of the truck and cannot find it. Any ideas from you knowledgable folks???
What model F150 is it ?
I believe most F150's have the unused plug in the dash behind the stereo but only some FX4, most Lariat, and most KR had the plug under the carpet in the back. The sub dash harness terminates at the drivers kick panel. Then the rest of wiring harness runs from the drivers front kick panel to the rear. It's not that difficult to fab up a harness from there.

If the sub harness is found underneathe the back seat on the drivers side, then the other end is beneathe the head unit. There is a grey connector that is taped to the wiring harness, just unplug it and connect it to the stereo. For whatever reason Ford decided to tape a female connector to the main stereo harness just as a way to keep the sub wires out of the way.
