but does it make a difference how close or far away they are? i know i will get a slight voltage drop... but i dont much care for them being in the doors and i have a perfect spot in the middle of the truck. i am just trying to figure out what is best for the system. i can change the location if it will help the system. but if there wont be a difference then id like to put them where i want.

It doesn't matter as long as the speaker wire between the crossover and speaker is sufficient. I have my crossovers mounted in the bed with 10ga going to the front doors and 12ga going to the kick panels. You would probably do pretty well to use at least 16ga speaker wire from your crossover to the doors without any issues.
