Under Seat Fun

hey guys,

just wanted some opinions... what i want is power and SQ. (as im sure everyone wants) but SQ is more important. I think i want a sealed box as i dont want it boomy i want tight hitting bass that can reach the lows as well.

but my main questions are.

1. Is a custom box the best way to go or should i get a stealth box?
2. for SQ and power whats the best way to go ( 2 12s, 3 8s, 2 10s)?

also im thinking of memphis for the amp, what do you guys think.

PS MONEY IS NOT A FACTOR

i have a Scab and i wouldnt mind doing a little seat lift.

thanks

2 10's would probaly give you the best sq, i have heard excellent things about the stealth boxes, but like you said, the ported box is going to give it more spl than sq, you could do 2 10" image dynamic subs in a custom sealed box and that should sound good

Thats what i am wanting to know!!!lol! I picked one up a few days ago (P3L-S12) and getting it installed Saturday along with 4 new 6x8's, HU and the amp. My main concern after bringing it home is..... will it fit???? (crossing fingers!) The salesman told me it would and we were in a hurry to be somewhere else at the time so I went ahead and bought it. Later I went and laid it in there to check things out. I am wanting to downfire it, but the edge of the Punch ring lays on a "bump" near the center of the cab. Not sure if that will constrict the speaker movement.

Id say go with a stealth box. One 10W3 will sound awesome. They design those boxes just for that sub. Most of these sub boxes you see on the internet for cheap that are for 2 subs, offer little air space, which doesnt let the sub funcition to its full potential. IMO, I think one of those 10W3v3 would sound good for what you want. They have an RMS range from like 100w to 500w, so it has some power. Every sub is limited by the amp you use, get a good amp, and tune it right.

ok thanks fellas, keep the comments coming. I think ive narrowed it down between the stealthbox and a custom box with 2 10s (probable P3 shallows). Any Amp opinions for the stealth or the 2 10s???

Steelshot, I'm in the same market as you, though I have my choices made. I'm going with 2 JL Audio 10W1v2 8ohm shallow mount subs. MSRP is just over $150 a piece but I found them for $79.99 at sonicelectronix.com . For the box, I'm going with a custom fit box from a "store" seller on ebay for only $47.99 (shipping's $50) and I'm transferring my capacitor, wiring kit, and amplifier (1000w DB Drive speed 2ch) from my explorer. I have the Pioneer Avic-z2 HU and factory door speakers (upgrading soon). It'll do for now. I'm in it for Sound Quality, but will definitely have enough to "disturb" the neighbors. I was at Tri State Audio for about two hours talking to the guys about all the ins and outs and for what I'm trying to achieve and for the money, listed above was concluded the best bet. JL has a brand new shallow mount out as well, pushing over $500 if your interested. Amazing sub, but none, IMO are worth that. I'll post some pics once install is complete. Good luck

By the way, I have an 07 supercrew and will be removing the jack and intend on installing the amp and cap on the rear wall.

Umm NO. Thats a way over dramatized stereotypical statement that people make all the time. Ported can be for SQ purposes as well. Just depends how designed.

I agree with low_e_red 100%. Its all in your tuning and setup desires.
