Installed door speakers but...

Background:

2005 F-150 Supercab with non-audiophile head unit and no subs.

I just replaced all 4 speakers with these because it was buy one get one half off.
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...cf&i=1086822CF

I know they aren't the best but is sufficient with what i need.

I installed them step by step by the instructions with the all 4 windows down.
After the install 3 out of 4 windows make a noise when going down and i assume its because of the speakers. I was thinking that I need to make a spacer and install that. Anybody else experience this and if so what to do about it?

I replaced my front speakers and noticed that the magnet probably is only clearing the window by a 1/8 inch. But I also took out the 4 stock plactic screw mounts, then bent the metal up, grinded and added some new clips. The speakers are mounted tight now but they barely clear.

thats an interesting thought but i'm certain i tightened it up all the way. Even my front passenger did it and I didn't have to take the whole panel off it, just the speaker panel. I might go ahead and put some spacers in there.

Whats the best thing for spacers?

Fixed my problem. I didn't need spacers. The wiring harness was getting caught in the window causing the noise. i just used zip ties in all the doors to pull the harness out of harms way

Did you have to cut off some of the tabs on the speakers? Just tried to install my 6822cf's but they won't fit. Just want to make sure before I start cutting. Thanks.

The tabs on the sides stick out past the stock opening. Anyone else run into this?

I just ran into it on my friends truck for the front speakers. You are talking about the side mounting tabs correct? I ended up removing the door panel and then mounting the speaker. Removing the door panel took me about 5 min. Be careful re-installing the door panel to clear the tweeter. But I guess you could just cut them off if you wanted to. Those side mounting tabs are not used by the factory anyway. Just remember if you cut them off, you void your warranty.

Thanks for the info. Will try pulling the panel and installing them. Funny, I called Crutchfield this morning and they said to just cut 'em off...

It's a good thing I've heard from others in this Forum to take what Crutchfield says with a grain of salt.

Thanks again.
