wierd problem with sub

hey guys, my sub powers up fine and sounds good for about a minute but then it slowly starts to get quieter. i then turn up the volume and it sounds fine again until i turn down the volume. but this does not happen if i have it turned up half ways. i have the stock ford 6cd player with a line out converter. could it just be a byproduct of the LOC?

Maybe your ears are just getting use to the volume and you have to turn it up again later to get the loud feeling.

I would think that it would have to do with the head unit. Does it have a feature like the chevy's do where it automatically adjust for the speed your driving at. If so try turning that ****ion off if you can. I had a similar problem w/ my Tahoe when I first put my system in.

A) You're probably right. What a cheesy thing to say man, sheesh!

B) The stock decks are set to cut off low frequencies at high volume. That doesn't sound exactly like what yours is doing but it's possible. I would agree that it could be a perception issue. If you listen to your deck on say volume 15 it will sounds excellent. Then crank it up and turn it back to 15. That 15 doesn't sound near as strong as it did a few minutes ago. Perception is reality..

Funny, I just installed my new subs and subs and sub amp and it seems like after 20-30 minutes my sub will get quieter (not as much thump) I also noticed that my amp is getting very hot to the touch.

Your problem sounds like the amp is going into "Safe mode" due to heat and reduces the power output.

Alpine MRP-1000 mounted behind the rear seat on the back wall. The difference was small but I think it could be my ears had adjusted to the loudness.
