Speaker Upgrade

07 CrewCab. Stock 6cd headunit.

Is it worth changing out the speakers to something better? Can I get better sound?
Right now I want to keep the stock head unit but looking for better sound. However to keep my options open, down the road I may change out the headunit so dont want to do speakers twice

In my not-so-professional opinion, sound can only get so good with a stock HU. If you really want better sound, I would buy a new HU before new speakers. You will be amazed at how much potential factory speakers have with the right HU powering them.

partsexpress has some plate 5x7 components that are a cheap upgrade

they are an oem ford part using pioneer drivers. front installation takes 5 minutes

GrifN stated it pretty bluntly. You can search online for a decent component set for your front stage. I wouldn't play with the rear-fil until you've installed a new HU and the front stage. Phoenix Gold RSD's, Pioneer Premier, Focal, Alpine Type-R are all decent sets. If you have the money, check out Rainbow and JBL's lineup as well. Pricey, but the SQ is great. Get pretty loud, too.

Cheers!

I agree, i replaced my HU first, and although it sounded a little better, the stock speakers just didnt sound great (and i had the audiophile ones). Then i replaced the door speakers with alpines all around and added a 10" sub/amp, and now it sounds great.

I'm going to add another amp and some 6.5 comps, as well as get 2 new 10" subs and raamat the whole thing to finish it off.
