Help with wiring for subs

HEY fellows I have a few questions about wiring up a new setup for my truck, here is what I have orderd so far

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/MTX-J...oductDetail.do

http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3886
I paid $391.10 shipped for this amp

http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3547

I understand how to run the power wire, groud and rca cables but I am not sure what guage wire I will need to run from the amp to the subs?

I have one Kicker 10" solobaric sub and a Kicker ZX-400.1 amp right now, but I want somthing louder so I am going to install the new setup myself, Let me know what you guys think about this setup and let me know if I need any thing else to get this setup thumpin! Thanks!

Hey Man, pretty nice amp, subs I can not speak for but MTX is pretty nice.. As far as guage wise, I would run no smaller than 10g..Let us know how it sounds!!

Go to Streetwires.com. They have a cool tool to determine wire size based on length and wattage.

10g is pretty big for speaker wire but it can't hurt. I have 16g running to my sub and I have no issues with sound or performance.

You'd better get yourself a DMM and set the gains on that amp conservatively. It's a bit powerful for those subs..

i would stick with the kicker setup. just upgrade your subs to either CVR 12's or stay with 10's and hook'em to a kicker mono block, like a 750.1 or up. i have 2 CVR 10's with a 750.1, and its plenty loud. check my sig for the youtube link.

12g is plenty big. The 1500.1 is definately overkill for those. Keep the volume down!!! The 1000.1 is all that is needed.

Thanks styxnpicks! I know what it is now but exactly how and what do I use it for?, Sorry for being so dumb this is all new to me, the first system I had circut city installed it for me, but after I saw what was involved it is not that complicated to install a amp and subs now that I know how it should be done.

Yes, a DMM is a Digital Multimeter. Using that amp is completely fine. Just use the DMM and a test tone to set the gains so that it's sending CLEAN power. Therefore, you'll be able to upgrade woofers at a later time and still have those MTX drivers in service. When you get the bass **** for the amp, keep it in the box. Seriously, don't even mess with it. Too many people think that Gain is a volume ****. Turn it too high and you'll your amp will start clipping (sending power that it cannot readily supply at that moment). The "bass" **** they include will do the same thing when abused. I never use mine..

Cheers!
