Alpine type r components come with a adapter plate or you can buy one. Or you can get any 6 1/2 and buy these http://www.audiooutlet.net/product/S...rs-6-x-8-.html
xtc baffles are foam enclosures meant to protect the back of your speakers when they are mounted in doors and things like that. But they make a sound difference. the only thing they affect is air space. think of it this way, take a free air speaker it can be a small one just for demo sake, play some music through it, then try cupping your hands around it you should notice a change in sound volume as well as tone diff. the reason is you are separating the air flow from the front and the back of the speaker causing less noise cancellation. And all installers know that bass is the easiest to cancel thats why if you run you speakers out of phase from each other you will have less bass. Also they will handle more power, it's a cheap thing to obtain, any shop near you should sell them. so before you go out and replace speakers, give it a try! The only persons opinion that matters in sound is yours, nobody can tell you what sounds good to you. They can only offer options! Doesn't mean any of us are right for your situation.
