Help me complete my system
Help me complete my system
I've been out of the car audio scene for a long time and don't know what would be the best setup for my 2007 Supercrew. I don't need the loudest brain-rattling system possible, but I would like some good clean sound. With this in mind, I have already purchased the following amp and subwoofer enclosure:
Alpine MRP-M45 amp
mono subwoofer car amplifier
220 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)
variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 24 dB/octave)
tuned Bass EQ (0-12 dB bass boost at 50 Hz)
subsonic filter (15 Hz, 24 dB/octave)
MOSFET power supply
CEA-2006 compliant
STAR Topology (minimizes internal noise and prevents ground interference)
speaker- and preamp-level inputs
gold-plated screw terminals
fuse rating: 20A x 2
8-gauge power and ground leads recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
9-3/4"W x 2-3/8"H x 9-9/16"D
JL Audio Stealthbox
ported fiberglass enclosure
10", 2-ohm DVC W3v2 subwoofer wired for 4-ohm mono
fits under the rear bench seat
power handling: 100-300 watts RMS (600 watts peak power)
What would you guys suggest to finish out the system? I have seen rave reviews of Alpine Type R's on here, but I don't know which ones people are using. Or are there better options out there that are not too high dollar? I realize I'll need any amp for the highs. I currently have an old Pioneer GM-840 that is 35W x 4 as well as an old Rockford Fosgate Punch 75, but I don't know if either of these amps are good enough to use in this application. If not, what would you suggest?
For the front doors, I had thought about getting some good components powered by the appropriate amp. For the rear doors, I had thought about just continuing to use the factory speakers powered off of the factory head unit but with some sort of crossover to keep bass out of these speakers. The reason I was considering this is that from what I have read, you just need a little for rear fill and don't want it to be too overpowering. In addition, it would let me purchase a cheaper two channel amp, if I need to buy one, and my fade would still work. What do you guys think about that setup? Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
