Front door speakers, little help please.

Well, i'm pretty sure my dad/local audio shop shafted me with the speakers he put in my door. I can't complain since he did it for free! But... I've had them for a while, honestly, they just suck. Notice very little difference than the stock speakers, other than they are slightly louder and put out a little better bass. I don't think they are powered by my amp, but i'm not sure.

Any recommendations for 2 (Maybe 4, because i still have the stock rear speakers) For under, or right at $100-$150. Keep in mind, i have never installed a speaker.. And was wondering exactly how hard it is. I'm just afraid i'll break my door paneling, or the power windows. Other than that i think i could eassily do it. Unless i have to amp them, if my current speakers are not amped, i might have to take the truck somewhere to get them installed, or find a buddy to do it.

That's my current speakers in the front are..
Pioneer Ts-G6841R

Thanks in advanced.

I'm not an expert, but from what I have read, I'm pretty sure what you are hearing is exactly what they should sound like. I think that if you want to really hear the clearness of the speakers and make them sound different from the stock, you have to amp them. Just my 2 cents.

I just looked up the specs on these speakers and i do not believe they are amped because my HU pushed out enough power for them. I was just wanting ideas for two new, maybe four new speakers. (Under $100-$150) And how hard it'd be to install, and amp them myself.

Keep in mind too that I am not a stereo expert by any means, my brother hooks me up and I am learning. With that in mind, he said for my type "r" front speakers to really be sounding to their potential, amp them. The type "s" ones don't really need it, I have them in the rear. I do also have a Pioneer headunit which makes alot of difference. I take it your stereo is stock, which hinders the speakers abilities.

Those Pioneer speakers should be well noticed even if they aren't top of the line, anything is better than stock. Alpine's that I mentioned aren't usually very expensive, but I noticed a huge improvement and mine like I said aren't amped.

I have an aftermarket HU, and it says it pushed 50 watts X 4 ways, and yes, this too made a huge difference when i had it installed.

The spks you have are not special. Sorry, if I busted your bubble. I really recommend getting a set of Polk dB's or the Alpine Type-S (If your looking for a cheap easy, amp free install) These will sound great off of whatever you have.

Infinity definately not worth the money...

I went to Walmart and bought some of there Lightning Audio speaker for about 45 bucks for 2 speakers. Much better than stock. And work great with my alpine HU. Not for sure they still sell them though. The install, at least on my truck was extremely easy. If you have a Haynes manual, or similar, it tells you step by step how to remove the door panels. For mine i undid about 4 screws or so, and removed a piece of trim and the door handle and then the panels just lift out.

door panel takes less then a minute to come off, then just unplug the connectors for the switch panels

X2 on the polks or the type s. I have used both and like them. Maybe put those pioneers your have in the rears and upgrade the fronts to save some cash. Either way, I would definately amp them. Even though both sets of speakers Low recommended are great off of stock/aftermarket headunit power, they are better when amped.

To the original poster, do a search on infinity in this forum and you will see all of the reviews... Not to bash anyone that uses them, but for the money, there are a few other brands that I would suggest.

I hope this helps a little,

Devildog101

P.S. Do a search on installing the speakers in the front and rear. There are several posts on this forum that explain in depth. Trust me, you dont have to be an audio guru to follow what the pics say. Also, if you end up needing any help amping them, shoot me an email.

While trying to keep from thread jacking, if you want, email me and I will see what we can figure out. There are many other questions that need to be answered to correctly answer your question.

Later,

Well, to sum all this up..
If i have to buy another amp (dont know if i have too) in order to amp some 6x8's i won't do it. I'll just get a new speaker that can run off my JVC HU. If my current amp can amp new door speakers, i'll get nice 6x8's and amp them.

Anywho, i want to replace the front with maybe some polk db or alpine type S, or type R. And put my current pioneers in the reer. Then maybe i'll have a nice sounding truck , even though your truck never sounds perfect to your own ears.

P.S does anyone know if a mono kenwood amp can power two new 6x8's along with the my subwoofer? Or will i need a new amp. Thats the deciding factor right now, because i don't want to have to buy two amplifiers. I was just confused because its a mono amp.

Thanks, B
