5x7/6x8 suggestions...under $100/pair

Been long enough with the factory speakers. I have already installed my Alpine head unit and am ready to buy some nice replacement speakers for all 4-doors in my '07 Supercab F150. I have always had Pioneer 2 and 3 ways in the past but think I could get by fine with all 2-ways. Just wondering if Pioneer is still good or if there are some better and more durable 6x8s for a reasonable price now. Thanks!

I recently installed so polk 2-ways in the front doors rated at 60 watt RMS and some sony xplods 2-way rated at 65 RMS in the rear door with a Kicker 60 watt RMS x 4 channel amp pushing them.

The polk were 59.99 a pair and the sony were 99.99 a pair both through crutchfield.

x2!

I have also had good experience with polk audio.

Will you be powering them off of the headunit or do you plan on amping them?

nah, no amp. Just looking for some better overall sound. I had our Pioneer 3-ways in my previous truck (an '03 Ranger) running off this same Alpine head unit and it sounded good but I forgot to remove them from the truck when I traded it in...oops. I may check into the Polks.

nah, no amp. Just looking for some better overall sound. I had four Pioneer 3-ways in my previous truck (an '03 Ranger) running off this same Alpine head unit and it sounded good but I forgot to remove them from the truck when I traded it in...oops. I may check into the Polks. Not much into crazy complicated audio systems anymore just like to be able to crank up some good songs and not hear the muddy sound of the factory speakers.

I do have another question...

To get to the rear door speakers in my Supercab do I still need to remove the entire door panel like you would on the '97-'03 models? I know that the front doors only require you to pop off the small panel over the speakers. I made a panel removal tool out of a large flathead screwdrive ground down, heated and bent to an angle with some plasti-dip on it some time ago and it works well for yanking those rear door panels if I need to.

Yes, you still have to remove the whole rear door panel. I think it was carguyingeorgia that did a good step by step how to in his gallery...

Hope this helps some.

Pretty good step by step, but it wasn't mine. I have a Supercrew.
