speaker box question

I have an 07 supercrew. I'm building a box to house 1 -12" sub and putting it where the center console used to be. The outside dimensions are 26x13.5x12 which if I'm correct gives me inside dimensions of 24.5x12x12 for cubic feet of 2.04??? So, which 12" speaker on the market right now would fit this size box correctly? I can shrink the length of the box size if needed. Also, should I point the sub towards the front of the truck or towards the back?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If your wanting a 12 you will need a mounting baffle bigger than 13.5 x 12...

What are you looking for exactley? Loud? Sound goood? Equal mix of both or so?

And how much power can you afford?

I'm using a punch 40 rockford fosgate amp.

True, the mounting baffle could be bigger no problem, glad you pointed that out.

Dont want to spend more than $150 on a speaker

I'm looking for equal mix of loud and quality.

Right now I have a 10" pioneer in a bandpass box that is bottoming out when turned up very loud, but when at normal listening level it sounds great. Maybe I could reuse this box and get a better 10 speaker instead of going to a 12" I wonder if this would sound good in my box? http://www.speedsound.com/product.as...ific=jnrppngoo

Also, can my punch 40 handle a 2 ohm load in bridged mode? I'm thinking of going with a 4 ohm dual voice coil speaker wired in parallel.

Since most 12 inch subs are actually over 12 inches in diameter, a bigger baffle would def. be a good idea. I usually like to make mine at least 14x14 for a 12 inch woofer.

As for a new sub in your bandpass box, I wouldnt even consider it. Subs are pretty picky when it comes to BP boxes. Its either get a 'right on' match between the sub and box, or else I dont like to use them.

As far as your Punch 40 handling 2 ohm bridged...I couldnt tell you for sure. Ive seen them do it, but for daily, I dont know. Those little things are tanks though.

X2 to Bartak.

Let me scratch the surface for a second here.
There are so many orders and s-curves for a bandpass box. On a simple 3rd order bandpass there is normally a sealed chamber and a ported chamber. The ported chamber is the tuned side. This side uses the dynamics of ported boxes with a little more. With the increased size the deeper it can go with the correct tuning of the box. I have built a .5curve 4th order bandpass that took 2 JBL 8'' GTOs to 157dB. That was my first. Had I completely understood that you needed close to 1/3-1/2 of the cone area for the port size, I could have made 163+.

Thats just the ported side. I havent even opened the door on the curves, different orders, thiele-small parameters, tuning, and the sealed side. Not to mention if there is even a .02cu ft difference in the chambers.

GET THE PICTURE. NOTHING IS THE SAME WITH THOSE.

ok, lets scrap the whole bandpass thing, bad idea.

now my question is: what 10" single voice coil speaker will handle the power of a punch 40 bridged in a sealed enclosure?
