Audiophile sub not working??
Audiophile sub not working??
I have a new 07 with the audiophile sub. I may be wrong, but I don't think it is working. If I reach my hand under the sub while the head unit is turned up loud, I don't feel any air movement, and I can't really feel any thumpin in the seat or feel the box itself thumping. For you guys with the audiophile sub, this can't be all can it? I wouldn't have paid $600 for the audiophile system if I ordered the truck, but it was a leftover and I got a great deal on the truck, and it had the audiophile system. I am just a little dissapointed in the sound for the extra money. Before I complain to the dealer, what do you guys think?
If its a new truck I would sure think it would have to be working...
Im not a big help when it comes to the stock stereo stuff, but I know in my buddies Expy, before we ripped the stock stuff out of there, it had the 'premium' stereo with sub and it would shake his truck pretty decent...Werent going to win anything with it, but you at least knew it was there....

use the menu button on the head unit to turn the bass up. that is the only way to even know its there.
in all honesty, its a 40 watt 8 incher, its not going to knock your socks off. But sitting in the back seat, you will feel it a tad.

Yeah the bass is all the way up, and I tried switching from the front to the rear to the seat to see if it made a difference - without much luck. It's only 40 watts huh. That sucks. Is it worth keeping the sub and swapping the amp or is the sub not worth keeping either? It doesn't sound terrible, but for the money that the audiophile system costs I would expect a little better thats all.

Rip it out, sell it, use that money plus a little more to put something decent in. Personally I dont think it's worth keeping any of the stock audio components.
Yeah thats what I thought. I can actually grab ahold of the box and the grate under the box and not even feel any vibrations in it. Hell, even my door speakers I can feel the bass and air being pushed out 2 feet away from the speaker. I have this week off, maybe I will check the wires at the box at least. Other than that, its off to the dealer.

The other thing that is weird is that when I switch the boost from front to rear - there is nothing for just the sub. There is front, rear, and all. No sub. I would think that you could switch to just sub.
Yeah, just to reiterate what was stated above, you should notice that you have the audiophile setup. Mine didnt come with it, but some of the ones I test drove did, and you could def tell the differece. Like said above, it wont win any competitions but it sounds nice.
Take it back to the dealer and bisch...

Well, I had a chance to flip the sub box over and it is definetely not working. I checked the wires going into the amp and into the sub and they were connected. Must be something at the head unit. I made a call to the dealer and am taking it in on Monday. I'll let ya know what I find out.
