Sub while keeping factory head unit/speakers

Alright, I really don't know much about car audio, but I just want a little extra bass sometimes, so I was wondering is it possible to run a sub with the factory head unit, without an amp or anything? If so, what size of a sub is best? I was planning on mounting it under the rear seat, on the driver's side since the jack is on the passenger side. Any of you guys done this?

you will need an amp to power the sub. you can run a sub/amp with the stock speakers and head unit. thats what im doing right now because i cant afford a new head unit and door speakers and another amp.

Yes we have. Search.

Size depends on your taste.
