Components

hey guys,

I have an 04 f150 5.4l v8 and I had a 15 inch subwoofer but I got sick of all the bass and i got rid of it. Now I just want some nice sounding music with good bass. Do you guys think I should go with some nice components in front and some new rear speakers, then a nicer headunit? Do I need an amp for my components? Also, what components do you think I should get?

thanks,
Mike

Unless your going to bi amp coaxial I'd suggest components for sure( get a 6"and tweeter if you can )
rear you can still run coaxial just make sure there turned down 1/3 from what the front stage is so it just fills sound in and not try and keep up ( they won't )

Get a high quality head unit and try out your stock speakers( factory decks have a chip that when you turn up your speakers the bass doesn’t( cause there crap and would rip)
When you want some smooth highs get a new set of components up front( I'd say this is the most important factor in the truck, I can turn off my subs and its still crystal clear and drops wayyy down in to the subwoofer level )

Amplifiers are nice if you want nice clear highs and lows as most decks rated at 45 X 4 or 55 X 4 only put out 16w per channel clean wattage. Factory decks only put out 6 or 7 w per ch.

If your going to mount a tweeter up high like in the a pillar or dash use a silk dome, if the tweeter is going in the kicks use a titanium tweeter( door I'd still use silk dome or a soft dome )
Nothing wrong with a 15"sub just get some speakers and set your gains so they suit each other better

If you end up getting comps, make sure you amp them. Trust me on this... Headunits have a low rms wattage and you will want to run some more power than they put out. If you just run the comps off of the stock headunit you will be disappointed. Maybe try upgrading the headunit first and then add an amp/speakers as the budget increases.

As far as what comps to get, it all comes down to budget and what you like. Everyone will agree that what you think is good, might suck to me, and vise versa. Go to some stereo shops and listen to different sets and pick a winner.

Good luck either way,
