Polk SR

Has anyone really listened to the Polk Audio SR's? Both sub and spks.

I have a opportunity to get a hold of 2 sets of SR's 5.25 or 6.5. Plus two SR 10's or 12's all for under 1300. Any thoughts on these. I have yet to hear them and need a detailed ear to guide me. (All brand new and not off the back of a truck...)

First nice truck above. Second 150s sealed would be hard to do, especially considering its a sub $250 dollar sub. I did notice the sensitivity was rated at 91 db for the 12 SR, but it didn't say how they got that rating. Also, watch out for the 7.5 in mounting depth on the 12 sub. Seems like it may be worth checking in to though...

You should only need 1 set of the 6.5s, or if you go with the 5.25s just get 1 set and throw them in the kicks and run a separate larger mid bass in the doors

250... no. From Polk you are looking around $424.95.

I was going to do a set of 6.5'' in the kicks. Then use the 5.25 in the rear as more of a mid set. But idk. All depends how creative i really want to get... And i was thinking of doing a box similar to Brypink2's. With the drivers facing outward. I also may build an extension to the flowthrough console using parts from another... We shall see.

on Ebay there $250, so you know. Put the 6.5s in kicks and Don't do rear fill, get a 4 ohm 8 inch mid and throw it in the door or something. Buy a 4 channel with active x-overs and youll be set. Honestly if you are going to mess with the console for the subs, might as well port dem things.

Im not looking for bass output i am looking for the clarity and depth a sealed will bring. Im going to tuck the subs underneath the seat.

I wont buy off of ebay. Been screwed once and I want it new in box from authorized dealer.

4-Channel w/ active crossovers wont give me the shaping capabilities i desire. I will have a 31 band eq on both front doors with a 27 band eq on rear and 15 band on sub. (RF 3sixty.2) I will RTA the truck.

SPL is one note... SQ is a flat 20-20.

Sensitivity is rated at 1watt/1 meter.

I heard the SR's with their prefab box in one of the their demo cars. It was a very good SQ sound.

Suggesting getting 10s rather than 12s "for better sound quality" doesn't make sense. A quality 12 (With the SR is), with sufficient power is perfectly capable of amazing sound quality. Heck, I guarantee I would create a system based on a single or multiple 15s that would make you sh!* yourself from SQ...let alone SPL.

Properly powered, in a quality sealed box... a big sub is perfect for all around SQ, and it will out-perform a 10 in many ways because it can often go lower, easier.

I may still go a 12. I havent ordered my stuff yet. I have never had 12's just always used 10's.

"...Could the SR104 keep up? Well, this woofer hit so hard, I honestly thought someone had kicked the back of my seat – is that hard enough for you? Consider as well, this is with the woofer strapped into the trunk of a Subaru WRX sedan – with the output blocked by the rear seats
– imagine the impact in a hatchback!..."
"...The SR104 was not only able to slam out the synthesized bass line with accuracy and detail, but offered a sense of warmth and size that sounded more like a 15-inch subwoofer. ..."
"...To evaluate the low frequency capabilities, I loaded up Jurassic Lunch from the Great Fantasy Adventure Album. This track features low frequency rumbles centered around 12-14Hz for the first 30 seconds. If your sub-bass system can’t shake the car, it just doesn’t go low enough to be called sub-bass. The SR104 had no problem sending pressure waves through the vehicle and produced awesome impact once the T-rex breaks through the trees and starts to roar 30 seconds into the track. Very cool! ..."
This is why I have debated the 10" (Thanks to PASMag for this awesome write up)
