factory wiring

I know little to nothing about speaker wiring, so please go easy on me....

What is the wiring under the driver's side back seat??

Is it only for a factory sub/amp or can it be used to wire aftermarket stuff?

it just hooks into the factory audiophile subwoofer/amp. it gives your stock amp power and signal.

is this what you are talking about?

PS. where is the picture from your sig taken??

Yea, I think thats the wiring that I have, but I dont have a sub or anything. There is just a slit in the carpet with some black wiring going past it...
So its only for a factory sub/amp?

My sig pic was taken at a small lake west of lake tahoe. I had only had my truck for a week and got to take it off roading to get up the trail to where that pic was taken....Loved it!!!

Sweet, another Californian! to me, nothing is more pretty then the lakes and forrests of northern California. we have a small ranch in shasta county near Lassen, and the views are amazing. Tahoe is a great area too. Glad you like your truck!

Yea I love my truck. All ive gotten add so far thought is some rubber floormats and some harley tails that are in the mail right now.... Cant wait to throw those on.

Just to make sure... The wiring that is beneath the cut in the carpet under the bench seat is only for the factory sub/amp and useless otherwise???

Thanks for the help..

I wouldnt use it. Just use all new wires. Your going to have to run a power wire anyways if you add an amp, so why not run a remote, loc, etc.

You might be able to tap a remote signal off of that but why worry about it when you can run a new one very easily.

Good luck,

Nice Truck...

nope, i already tried that when i used a LOC. i ended up having to disconnect the stock amp from the stock sub box, and tap into the amp's wiring harness to the stock sub. a) it looked horrible and b) still didnt sound good, so i got a new HU and ran straight RCAs. now it sounds perfect.
