Help with replacement speakers
Help with replacement speakers
I have decided to go with a IVA-W205 2-DIN DVD/CD/MP3/WMA and add a sub. My rig now is all stock with no sub.
Would going with a component system really sound that much better than upgrading the stock speakers with some high performance 6x8's? (recommendations?)
and a good quality sub (also recommendations?)
Should I also replace the wires?
Or am I going overkill on the head unit??
Just looking for a nice clean sound with the power when I want it.
Thanks

I'm sure everyone here will throw all types of options and thier beliefs of what's the best setup but I always recommend hitting Travis up at KC Autosound (www.kcautosound.com). He's a good guy and had a good ear for what works in our trucks. He carries sooo much product that he hasn't had a chance to put up on his website. I believe last week he told me that he became and authorized dealer for Rockford Fosgate, Polk Audio and Panasonic.
Last year he took me and a buddy with him for the USACi World Finals. A huge car audio competition in Kansas City. I was amazed by his amount of product knowledge and history. Everyone at the show knew him from the big name guys to the simple kid getting his foot into the audio world.
This year the show is going to be in Omaha, NE because Kansas City has been a disaster area due to all the construction around Bartle Hall. They've been building the new Sprint Center there and has everything messed up. My buddy and I got hooked after last years show so we are making the trip to Omaha again to kick it with Travis and his buddies. I hope the V.I.P party is as good as last years. Lets just say. Lots of strong alcohol, hot girls, and the wet T-shirt contest turned into almost a strip and **** show on stage...lol We thought it was pretty wild and Travis said it was more tame than the previous years. Wish I had known about this show earlier...lol

Boils down to personal preference
IMHO component speakers have much more sound from high freqs.
I myself think most component speakers have too much trebel for my ears.
But their cost shows that I'm more than likely in the minority. I've always been more happy with a 6x8 type than a component. But that's what my ear likes.
As far as subs, I've always been a JL Audio fanboy. I have a pair of 10w0's in one of my vehicles and a single 10w3 in my truck. I'm not too impressed with the w0's personally. I LOVE my w3 in the truck.
