System subs, speakers, amp and box help!!

Ok I have been lookin at supercrew sound boxes, was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. I am looking to replace my factory stereo system. I want to start with the amp, subs, and speakers first. I was leaning toward two 10" subs, as for speakers I wanted jl audio, or image dynamics as I've been doin a lot of reading on here and heard good things about em. I want clean bass that hits hard, i mainly listen to metal/rock and every once in a while some rap. I want clarity!!! I want the setup to be clean, no boxes rattling around the back seat. I am going to buy all my components then have them professionally installed,( believe me, im not good at that stuff, and I dont trust people who say "ooh I can install that... its easy.. famous last words till your electrical system is fried ) I was lookin at jl audio subs and image dynamics. Please help me, I dont wanna buy stuff from the stereo place cuz they will rape my credit card! My price range is 1500 but under would be great. If a lil more than 1500 for a nice setup I can live with. I wanna turn heads with clear sound. Please help, suggestions for head unit and door speaker replacements would be greatly appreciated also. my truck is 05 Screw Fx4, thanks guys!!!!

Well, everyone has their own tastes... JL is a bit overpriced/overrated in my opinion. They make killer stuff for sure, but I think you can get just as good of sound quality out of other stuff without breaking the bank. I've ran through a lot of different components, and the Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS 6.5" component set is my favorite so far. You can get the entire set for under $250 in a variety of places, including ebay and www.sonicelectronix.com. Alpine Type X Components are super clear as well but seem to be lacking a bit in midbass and the tweeters are fairly bright. The Premiers seem to have a super smooth, natural sound and are crystal clear. I'd suggest them. I tend not to suggest things I've never owned as I don't have personal experience with them. Not discouraging against anything else; I'm just not gonna tell you they're great when I have no idea.

As far as my experience with amps go, Alpine makes a pretty clean amp for the money. Don't get anything but the V12 series- the VPower are okay but you're going for clarity. I've had the MRV-F545, which is 125x4 at 4 ohms, and the MRD-M1005 which is 1000x1 at 2 ohms. Never overheated, and always put out clear sound. JL amps are great, but again, a bit overpriced in my opinion. But it's your money.

As far as subs go, it depends on lots of things, one of which is the quality of enclosure. Alpine Type R/Type X subs are pretty clear, along with JL subs. JL subs have a reputation for being very clear and hard hitting. There are lots of rave reviews about the ID subs and SI subs as well, although I have no personal experience with them. I haven't been super happy with Kicker subs- the bass hits pretty hard but isn't as clean as others I've heard. The only problem with the supercrewsound box or any other box that is pre-fabbed is that they are built to fit under the rear seat at stock height, which really limits your options on subs because of mounting depth. There are still great subs out there, but if you do the LMI seat lift kit your options go up dramatically. Without it, I'd look at the IDQ subs (I think they fit) but again I have no personal experience with them.

To summarize, if you have $1500 to spend, the setup I've got would probably be one way to go.

TS-C720PRS components: $250
Alpine MRV-F545: $300
Alpine MRD-M1005: $325
Seat lift kit: $160
Alpine SWR-1022D: $230 for both, shipped
Box (probably have to get one made or make it yourself): $100
Capacitor and speaker wiring: Roughly $125

Total: $1490

Now one of the most important things to do when you're really wanting clarity is some sort of sound deadening. You may want to spend about $100 on that and it will take some time to install. Focus on your front doors and under/behind the rear seat. Any extra you have, I'd do on the floor in front and back. This will probably be the most time-consuming part of it, as it requires taking out seats/carpet to really do right.

Sorry for the novel. Good luck

-Mike

If you are want really clear audio, I would definately amp the door speakers. You can either use two amps or find a 5 channel amp to run the whole systme. Some guys power the rear speakers off of the headunit and use one amp to power front comps and the sub. Tons of options here. For your budget, you can get a great setup.

Good luck, and send pics you have it installed.
