Another "what should I do" thread......
Yeah, so I will admit I know NOTHING about speakers, stereo's, quality, specs, and everything else. I can install like a champ, but other then that I am no good.
I have always stuck with my stock stereo's because they were fine for what I like. I had the Camaro with the Bose system that had a mini woofer in the back, and my SRT-4's system has a very decent bass response with no rattles.
So what I am looking for is a decently sized screen on a head unit with Navagation, touch screen, and the ability to have a/v inputs. Also it would be great if it was powerful enough to power the speakers, but I can deal with a small amp.
For the speakers, I am only looking for factory replacements with a very clean high, and a good bass response. I dont need it to hit hard like a Sub, jut decent enough to know it's not stock and sound clean inside.
So
Good video head unit
Good speakers front and back
and possibly an amp if needed for the speakers
Oh and is there any good sound isolating material for the doors and anywhere else? Just wondering if I can quiet down the exhaust....
Thanks guys......

Thanks guys......As far as DD screen HU's, Alpine, Eclispse and Pioneer all make nice units, you would be safe going with anything from one of those brands.
For coaxial speakers, Boston and Polk are some of my favorites.
Best thing you can do is go to some type of audio shop and play with their demo units. Try to familiarize yourself with some of their NAV units and play with them, see what appeals to you most.
Same with the speakers...take a listen to them and see what sounds best to YOU, after all, thats who the stereo is for

As for an amp, I would really recommend something, but that is something that can be added later. Get yourself a HU and speakers and see how it works. If you like it, good deal, you dont need an amp...but if they need more power...
For sounddeadening check out SecondSkin and Rammatt...
OK, so I have the head unit. The Kenwood KVT-617DVD.
Now I am looking for the speakers. I want something with as much of a bass hit as I can get without a sub.
I have been looking at BA, Eclipse, and Polk. THe Polks look cheap, so that sort of worries me. The BA's dont seem to get great reviews on here.
But oh well, the name must mean something. They have to be popular for a reason everywhere else.
I am thinking of going with a set of BA SL80 and S85's.... Would a small amp make them hit harder in the mid range?

YES! There is a night and day difference between powering a set of coaxials with a decent sized amp compared to a HU, especially in your midbass/bass.
The Polk MOMOs are a nice speaker, dont worry about them being cheap. Eclipse makes a quality speaker too, but their metallic tweets can be a little on the bright side. I guess Ive never really noticed that BA doesnt get good reviews here...never paid attention to much of what other people suggest, frankly I dont care
