component speakers
component speakers
I am looking to get a set of component speakers for my front door of my 04 f150. I was wondering where does everyone that have component speakers mount their crossovers? Also I am planning on adding an amp using a line out converter until i have the money for my nav. system. Is there a factory amp installed in the truck anywhere. I have the 6 disc head unit with the factory sub. Thanks

I mounted/placed mine in the arm rests on each door. They pop off fairly easy and there is a fair amount of room. But it all depends on how big your crossovers are for your components. They my fit. When you pry off the top of the arm rests, discontect the power locks and window wire clips to have good access.
Good Luck

I think the amp on the audiophile setup only runs the sub. I think the headunit powers the front/rear speakers so you should be ok.
Good luck...
My new ones wouldn't fit in the arm rests, so I took the door panel off and screwed them into one of the big holes in about the middle of the door. I used two self-tappers for screwing directly to the door panel and two straps for the bottom. Fits in there nice and short wire run, but kind of a pain if you need to access x-over settings, later.
I put mine behind the dash.
If you open your door and look at the dash there is a panel with a hole on that i believe leads to your doors.
These panels pop right off, I had to make brackets to hold em in but its well worth it, easy access in the event I need to make adjustments.
