Some people do use it. Some people like it, while others don't. Some say it works, other say its worthless.

You guys do know of the old audiophile reason for this stuff - to convert the energy into heat and increase the effective volume of the enclosure ...

I sometimes use poly-fill....only because when I was trained it was put in my head that it makes a sub sound cleaner....I never really questioned it but I really don't see a noticeable difference, by ear at least.

Yea, if you're limited on space for your sub box, you can make it on the small side and fill it about 1/2- 2/3 with poly-fill and it will sound better.

I've tried it several times and on every occassion, could tell no difference with or without. Might just be me though.

I have always been a fan of this topic. Lots of the guys that know what they are doing say its worthless. I have used it and havent used it but have never really done an A/B comparison. Let us know if you try it out and what you think.

Does anyone line there boxes with anything else that the rest of us dont know about???

Later,

The concept is to "slow" the waves to it gives the illusion of a larger enclosure if I am not mistaken. Also, it can aid in eliminating a "hollow" sound some enclosures may give off, and also eliminate issues with standing wave cancellation if you an enclosure with several parallel walls. I HAVE had some luck with all of those issues in the past.

Is it a huge difference? No...but it takes the edge off- a bit.

polyfill does work great, the only problem most people have with it is over filling thier enclosure, best to lightly fill the box rather than not as it not only fools the sub into thinking its in a larger enclosure but, it also helps prevent standing waves in the box as well, meaning better output.
