I am looking at getting a set of Rainbow SLC 265s and a US Amps Xt 800x2. My question is will this set up work and how will it sound?

Thanks Zach

Not a whole lot of power for them off of two channels. If you bridge it, it could be a little much if your not careful. You can make it work though.

As for will it sound good?? That depends, how good can you install and tune??

Thanks Bartak

The speakers are actually going to be installed in an 07 F350 and I was planning on putting the tweets up in the A pillar and the mids in the stock door speaker location.

So then these speakers would need a little more power pushed to them to reach full potential? And I'm also open to suggestions for the speakers and amp setup, as it is probably going to be a little while before I order.

Thanks

I've been doing a little more researching to figure out how I could get a little more power to the speakers without blowing them up. I saw that bridging the 800x2 would give me 520 watts to one channel. Now if I got the 800x4 and bridged that it says I should be putting out 260watts to two channels. Would that be an ok output or am I close to their limits. I know if I set it up right it shouldn't be a problem but I just want to make sure before I go and purchase all this stuff. Or I could also use a 1600x2 wich is rated at 200 watts.

I guess I just kinda need to know the limits of these speakers cause I really don't want to blow them but I also want to get all that I can out of them.

Thanks
Zach

I'm sure the SLC's can handle the 265rms, however I would wait for Don to chime in before attempting to give them 265. Also I have a pair of US amps, and they do not put out rated power unless your putting out 14 volts.

I couldnt tell you exactley how much power they could take. A 100-150 watts a channel would sure be sufficient I would think.

No doubt. Usually better speakers are more efficient and actually need less power to crank. I have a PDX 4.150, using two channels for front and two for rear. I only have the gain turned up about a third of max for the Boston pros and they are load and clear.

Well, I think I'll be able to put out 14v no problem with dual alternators and dual batteries. But as far as power going to speakers I'm still not sure. IIIRC there were some people or someone that was running some rainbows at like 300 but I htink that may have been a higher line than the SLCs.
