maybe a dumb question...?

ok i have a custom 10" sub box...can i just buy a 12" and modify the box to fit it? make the hole bigger? i dont wanna have to spend the money to buy another custom box....

Sure you can providing your custom box has the required air space and mounting depth for a 12" sub.....

BTW. the only dumb question is the one you don't ask......

ya ive done this before, just make sure that the 12 will fit (both depth wise and width, if the subs outer mountings are wider then your box it wont work).

also be careful to make it pretty precise if you widen the hole, make sure it stays a perfect circle (you dont want air escaping anywhere).

One last thing to keep in mind is airspace. if your just trying to thump harder but the 12 isnt meant for that small of airspace, its not going to sound very good and will not drop low like you want it to.

Also, if you don't have enough mounting space you can cut a hole in the back and stack a few blocks for increased depth. Just make sure you seal it real good.
