New Car and new system

Hey guys,

My dad just surprised me and got me an 04 F-150 Lariat 4 door. I can not believe it, I am sooo stoked. Origionally i was getting my moms ford Explorer but I guess shes gonna keep it now. Well I had the system in the Explorer hooked up. 1 kicker comp vr 15" powered by a orion 1200d amp that does 1200 watts @ 1 ohm. I am def. going to be using the amp in the f150 but I do not know what to do about the sub. I really dont think I can use the 15 because thats just so big and I do not know where to put it other than on top of the seat, but wont that be really weird? I also have 2 12" alpine type rs that I can put in the truck. Maybe I can just use 1? Can someone please show me a box that I can put 1 or both type rs in my truck. OR do I have to get 10s? What do you guys think is my best bet?

My second question is that I would like to use my door speakers which I installed in the explorer as well. They are 6 x 8, will they fit or not?

I just got my license yesterday, but unfortunatly I can't drive the truck for 6 weeks because I had surgery this morning for a new ACL since I broke my femur bone and tore my acl last december. Ill be getting the truck within 3 days when I can get out of the house to go look at the truck before my dad pays for it, his friend is selling it to us. I am 16 and this is actually my second car and Ive only had my license for 1 day haha. dont flame me.

Thanks soooo much for the help, I look forward to being on this forum,
Mike

Welcome to the site, and congrats on the truck.

Unless you want to be ghetto and stick the 15 on the back seat, sell it for some cash...no way its going to fit in that truck without LOTS of custom work.

Are the Hype Rs the older models, or the newer ones?? The newer ones might be to deep, Im not for sure though. The older ones should fit easily though.
With a seat lift (2.5 inches) some guys are fitting subs that are a touch under 7 inched deep in there Screws.

A pair of 12s will fit with a custom built box and a lift though. With around 2.3ish cubic feet total.

There are tons of prefab boxes out there for a pair of 10s. I think even a few for some shallower mount 12s.

The speakers from the X will fit in your new truck too.

Alright thats awsome. The type rs are the older style. Im going to have to either make or get a custom 12 box made. thanks for the help man. IS there any way I can just buy a box online for my type r? What if i mount it under the front seat? is that possible

I doubt it would fit under the front seat...not much room there.
Barely enough room for an amp even...

Do you know the exact mounting depth on those Type Rs??
There are a few companies that make some nice prefab boxes for these trucks, but I cant remember their names. One is Supercrewsounds.com I know. Them MIGHT have dual or single 12 boxes, if they do I havent seen them that I recall. Dont take my word on that though, I dont pay much attention to the prefab boxes.

Are you wanting to run both of the Type Rs, or just one?

Look at my gallery, under my Interior Section, You can see the Box that I have that houses my 15" TC-3000.

I like it

your gonna have to build a dual 12" box. prefab boxes come only in 10s, and if there is a 12" prefab box its going to be for shallow mount subs (5.5" or less of depth) and i dont think your type Rs will fit in there. you will need to raise your seat and either build a box or have one built. check out the galleries for impact9 or brypink2 or bestntx they have all done this. you will also have to mount your amp behind the seat, search the forums for how to get the back seat off (its a pain in the a$$)

but good luck with your system and welcome to the site!

Hey Im just thinking i can put my 15 box since its a small sealed box in the middle on the floor behind the center console. It might be a tight fit and it might work until I get my 12s in there. If it fits good Ill just keep the 15 and also I can maybe just mount it where msall has his.
