System Install Help and Ideas

Alright I finally settled on my system components, now I'm workingon choosing the install materials and planning the install itself. Any help would be appreciated.

Equipment:

Rainbow Germaniums CS265.25
Rainbow Sound Line SL 5x7
Image Dynamics IDQ d4 v.2 10"
DLS Reference RA50 60x4/220x2 + 365x1 mono ch.
Q-Logic enclosure

So far I've chosen the following. Please let me know If I'm forgetting something.

KnuKonceptz KOL-AK44 amp kit (20' 4ga. power, 3' 4ga. ground, miniANL 120A fuse, 5m RCA cable, 2-4ga. ring terminals, 2-4ga. spade terminals)

Knu Karma 12ga. speaker wire (not sure how much yet) or Knu 12 ga. Bi-Wire speaker wire for bi-amping.

Knu 16 ga. wire for remote turn on.

Knu battery terminals

RCA cables? not sure what I need to hookup to the factory HU?

Elemental Designs eDead. Not sure if I should do 1 layer of UE, 2 layers of v1SE or just 1 layer of the v1SE.

Need some 1/4" MDF to make speaker baffles and amp mounting point

Any suggestions on a spray sealant I can use on the inside of the q-logic to be sure it is sealed?

What kinds of terminals will I need?

I'm planning on mounting the Germ xovers on the back of the cab wall with the amp any negatives with this setup?

Sorry for long post but I tried to make it organized

if you are using the stock HU, you will need a LOC (line out converter). you can find them for like 5-10 bucks on the internet just search around. you will wire this thing to your speaker wires and it provides RCA inputs so you can send signal to your amplifier.

that system will be super sweet when your done!

Not sure how much the KnuKonceptz stuff is running you but you could always just go to a local car audio shop and buy wire by the foot would probably be cheaper in the long run anyways.

I have always prefered to put a circuit breaker under the hood by the battery rather than a fuse holder. Looks cooler and will never have you out hunting for a fuse. It works better for me as I am always switching amps in and out ect so I can just hit the button to trip the breaker, do what I need to do, then reset it when I am done.

Like this: http://www.phoenixgold.com/2004/circuitbreaker.html

If you go back and read through your kit it comes with speaker wire and RCA's no real sense in buying it in kit form if you are going to buy replacements for what is already in there.

If you mount the Xovers in the back then I would suggest their bi-wire as you will have two leads going from each xover to the doors.

To hook an amp up to your factory stereo you will need one of these:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-H0ogFTC...put+converters

You can find them at almost any box store including Wal Mart. Run your factory wires to it and the RCA's from it to the amp.

Not sure about the sound deadening but with 1 10 and only 60x4 to the highs I would think 1 layer would do, I usually put a patch inside the door directly behind the speaker and on the skin of the door extending about 8" away from the speaker and call it a day.

To mount the amp and x-overs to the back wall I would use 1/4" mdf. Pull the factory carpeted panel off, liquid nail the MDF panel to the back cab wall(keeps from screwing holes into it) the put the factory carpet piece back on and screw the amps through the factory carpet into the MDF.

As for the Q-Logic it should be pretty well sealed. There really is nothing you can buy that will get you into all of the nooks and crannys in the box so I would just hook it up turn it up and listen for any air to hiss out, if it does address that spot or call Q-Logic for a replacement.

Looks good, Id buy a smaller fuse while your at it though...80 amps or so...

Knu Karma 12ga. speaker wire (not sure how much yet) or Knu 12 ga. Bi-Wire speaker wire for bi-amping.

The Bi-wire would be nice for running from the back wall to the doors all in one package.
If you want to save a little money, get the Klear Kable instead of the Karma. Cost less, and its speakerwire, just like the Karma. No benefits of going with the Karma unless you really want the Bi-wire.

Knu 16 ga. wire for remote turn on.

Looks fine

Your going to need a LOC to convert your high signal from teh speaker wires to a low level output. Youll need three sets of RCAs Im assuming (two for front and rear, one for sub channel)

Elemental Designs eDead. Not sure if I should do 1 layer of UE, 2 layers of v1SE or just 1 layer of the v1SE.

Meh on the eDuh...

Need some 1/4" MDF to make speaker baffles and amp mounting point

You could move up to a 1/2 or 3/4 inch piece for a little more rigid baffle; would also give a little more mounting depth (Im not sure if you woudl need more or not)

Any suggestions on a spray sealant I can use on the inside of the q-logic to be sure it is sealed?

If I was worried about a box Im looking at not being sealed, I wouldnt buy it, plain and simple. If it leaks, its a POS, if its doesnt leak, your good.
If your still worried about it Duplicolor makes a spray on bed liner that would probably work good.

What kinds of terminals will I need?

For??? If your talking about speakers, just get a crapload of spade terminals. They are nice to have on the speaker ends of the wire assuming the speaker will take a spade terminal. For some installs to save time/money I wont even put a terminal on the ends that hook to the crossover though. Strip a little bit, twist it nice, put it in the crossover and screw it down tight. Works fine. If you have the stuff already, just as well do it though.

I'm planning on mounting the Germ xovers on the back of the cab wall with the amp any negatives with this setup?

Nope
