speaker power options ?

speaker power options ?

looking for some help in setting up my component speakers, (powerline CMX)the amp is a boston acoustics gt-40, clueless about 2 vs 4 ohms setup..need someone to explain power options...below is the amp specs....thanks for any help...Jim

Your power options depend on what impedence your speakers are (2 or 4 ohm) Your speakers are 4 ohm, so whatever that amp puts out at 4 ohm is how much power you will get.

In this amps case (i looked the specs up on google), you will get 140 watts per side if you bridge the amp, or 45 watts per side if you only run the comps off the front channels and plan on running something else on the back channels.

thanks for the response , yes I want to run I guess two channels to each front speakers ..wow 140 watts on each speaker I take it the speakers are ok with this much power? (powerline CMX) seems like alot of you run no rear speakers...thats ok with me...Jim

You should be fine with this amount of power. Set your gains right with a DMM and I wouldnt worry about it at all.

Whether or not you want to run rear speakers is a big personal preference type thing. Personally I hate the way it sounds with rear speakers so I have none. Messes the whole soundstage up.
