Console enclosure

I have been into car audio for about 10 years. I have always been fascinated in the size of the center consoles in fords. Now being a owner I was thinking about building a custom single 10" downfiring box to go inside the console og my 01 extended cab and still have storage room. I have been searching the web to get ideas. I have not found anything and I'm sure I'm not the only person that has thought about it. Any comments or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Allen

Allen, I think you are going to have go custom. I have a post on this forum, where I built my own center console sub box. The box is a bit larger than necessary, but I wanted smooth deep bass, but is does have room for storage in the front once I get around to finishing it.

Doesn't JL make a stealthbox that fits in the 01 console?

MTX has a Thunderform enclosure for the older model yukon/blazer's you can probably use for a center console in your ford. Just use the mounting bracket on the bottom of the console to secure it to the floor with some screws. It has storage and cup holders on top with a downfiring 4500 mtx 10" you can get it amplified or with just the speaker. It's cheaper than going custom...

Or take a look at what MTX has to offer for your truck.

I know you can special order these from Circuit City but that second link should have vendor locations.

I am in the process of building a 3-10" downfiring box in my Scab. It's not complete yet, need to work on the armrest portion and then finish it in vinyl, but here are some pictures....

Some various build pictures... http://www.kuruption.net/f150/.

(Note: The pictures were too big to just include, so pointing to my website...)

Wow Kuruption - looks like a lot of work, but a very nice install.

Couple questions...

- in this picture http://www.kuruption.net/images/F150/build/38.JPG you have two air vents coming across the floor. Is that standard for the 2006 trucks or something custom that you did since you took out the center console?

- When you took out the original center console, was it packed full of wires and vent tubes?

I have a 2004 FX4 SuperCab and I recently bought a Blaupunkt ODw1000HP subwoofer. Its a thin subwoofer with 400 W RMS and 800 W peak. Here's the website: http://www.blaupunkt.com/us/7606200282_main.asp
(I just noticed the website lists lower powers... but all my manuals and the box list the 400 W RMS / 800 W peak powers)

Here's a pic of the Subwoofer

Do you think there would be room to install this in the center console? It would probably require cutting up the console and installing a wooden box for the speaker, right? Could that be done while still maintaining the exterior of the stock console?

Or would it be better to just make a custom box to install it under the back seat?

Also - any good advice on what size subwoofer to use? I'm looking for a nice sound but not something that will rattle the windows of the houses nearby.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It seems pretty clear that you know what you are doing Kuruption.

Thanks!
