whats the best way to hook up a low pass filter?

OK, I have an '04 supercrew lariat. It does not have the audiophile radio, or the sub harness. I would like to keep the stock looking radio so I did some research and it seems as though the best way to hook up a sub to it is to run it off a low pass filter. For those of you who have done this, where is the best place to hook up the low pass filter for my amp?

I meant the box that taps into your stock speaker wires and converts them to RCA's to go into your amp.
