Are my stock speakers good?

Pioneer TS-G1640R 6.5 2-Way Speakers

Last night I connected one of the speakers to my truck and I did not notice a difference compared to my stock speaker. Are the Ford factory speakers that good that I would not notice a difference? I did cross the connections to make sure I tested them out both ways.

(I had the same speakers in my Honda and my stereo sounded crisp and clear. The stereo that was in my honda is now in my truck)

Exclamation Stock Speakers

Well personally, I think the stock speakers sucks, the pioneers would sound better, make sure you get a bracket to mount them properly. I have some polks in the stock locations and they sound great, although they are hooked up to a 4 channel amp, many people use other brands on this site, see what sounds good to you and go from there

me personally, I don't like pioneer coaxial, their components are decent, but their coax suck. I am sorry I ever bought my 4 ways. I've got a set of MB quart's coming in next week

Do you all think that the difference in sound between the stock and pioneers are when you hook an amp to them?
(The Pioneers would sound much better and can handle more power)

An amp can really step up the sound in a set of speakers, compared to running them off the HU.

Personally, if you are running the stock HU with no amp, I would keep the stock speakers in too. They do quite well considering the pathetic amount of power the stock HU puts out.

Hopefully a 4 channel amp will do the trick with the pioneers. I have not put them in just yet. Do any of you guys know of a good inexpensive 4ch amp?

Bestbuy wants $250, plus 80 for the install

Is anything from WalMart good?

Not really. They will work...but how good and for how long is questionable.

My stock speakers said right on the magnet that they have a max rating of 25watts. My kicker 6X8's are a lot better then the stocks, but they are also getting 60 rms watts at 4 ohms, and are powered by a kicker ZX350.4. They are great inexpensive speakers.
