What speaker should I get?

So I went to Sound Advice to hear the difference between the JL Audio 10W1V2D4 10" found here

http://www.tweeter.com/product/index...entPage=family

and the Polk Audio MM2104 10" found here

http://www.tweeter.com/product/index...entPage=family

And the salesman directed me to the MTX Thunder 10" found here

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/MTX-T...oductDetail.do

Now im running a 300 watt @ 4 ohm Clarion amp and I was just wondering if you guys had any opinion on the matter. I'm leaning towards the MTX just because it is a cheaper speaker and the salesman told me there is not much difference between that and the much more expensive JL Audio. I personally believe that he is giving me a line to sell a MTX for whatever reason, but since I know very little about the brand quality of these speakers I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Thanks in advance.

Got a 3 sided coin? No?

I would go with the Polk in the Q-Forms box since it matches your amp and I know it sounds good.

I've never heard clarion subs. You know a good place to research and ask about subs is www.realmofexcursion.com. if you have a link though just post it here so anyone else can comment.

Id go with the Polk personally. JL is overpriced, and I just hate MTX...

Now that I think of it the link is probably something you all already know about. But here it is:

www.millionbuy.com

Thanks for the link by the way. Im looking into getting this this driver which I found on the forum.

http://www.tcsounds.com/tc1000.htm

As you can tell. I really have no direction as to what sub to get. But the TC-1000 looks like a really high quality subwoofer. And I hear good things about them on the tc forum as well as th Realm of Excursion forum.

ikesound.com
cbrstereo.com

are all good sites. JL is a good product, usually a little overpriced. MTX is crap in comparison to the other subs you mentioned.

That TC should blow the ***** out of those other subs. TC is a nice company. Ive messed around with quite a few of their products and they are some of my favorites. Heck, even my older style Mags are TC9 based.

Thanks for the input. The thing I am a little hesitant about is I only have a 300wrms @4 ohm amp so I am a little underpowered for the TC-1000. I mean I dont know a whole lot about this stuff, do you think I could make this work with a 300 watt amp? I called them up and they said I should be ok, but Im just wondering if I will do the driver justice by "just making it work" Any thoughts?

thank you guys for your input. I ended up going with the TC-1000. I think that the overall quality and precision of the TC is better than anything else in its price range. Ill be sure to post picks when everything is said and done. Thanks again.

I was going to order the Tc-1000 myself if I didn't get such a smoking deal on my Rl-i.

300rms should be fine, I'm shooting 250 to my Rl-i and think it sounds fantastic. Keep in my what I think sounds good is strictly a matter of opinion.

On side note I may be leaning towards a 10 or 12 SI BM. Yo!

-Ben

P.s. Build your own box, I ordered mine from supercrew sound and regreting it. It took almost a month to ship out, I bought online to save time but during that month I could have built my own which would have sounded x10 better!

P.p.s I still love supercrewsound <3

300 watts will work great for that. You dont need to send a sub its RMS power to get impressive results. Heck, you would hardly be able to tell a difference between the 300 watts you have now, compared to if you stuck a 400 watt amp on it. I wouldnt worry about it at all; I even ran my Mags off 300 watts for awhile and was quite happy with it.

Impact, you will see those gray 11 spoke baskets on a LOT of subs. They are just used by a lot of companies because they work and are easily available.
