Is sonicelectronix.com a good website to buy audio equipment from?

 

i ordered my clarion max675vd head unit off of there. great prices and fast shipping. product was brand new and have never had a problem with it.

 

i bought a few items from them as well.... all but one of the items were smooth transactions. The only bad thing was when i ordered an amp, which the site said was in stock, and they didnt have it in stock, and the manufacturer was on back order.... it took literally three phone calls to get it through the guys head that i just wanted a refund, and not a different amp from his website.
But that was a once in a blue moon type of case i suppose... overall i think its a good website to do business with

 

I had a good experience with onlinecarstereo.com they both have about the same products and prices. I ordered one of my amps from them on a Monday and it was on my front door step Thursday with just regular shipping.

I was just wondering, how come sonic eletronix is selling the subwoofer for 119.99 compared to crutchfield who is selling for 179.99? Why is there such a big price difference? Is something wrong with the merchandise? Are they trustworthy?

More than likely, sonic is not factory authorized for that brand. Crutchfield is factory authorized for every product they carry. Meaning, if something goes wrong, you get the full factory warranty thru crutchfield. With sonic and most internet or ebay sellers, there is no factory warranty.

 

I actually know the owner of Sonic, Nate Victor. We don't do lunch weekly, but I have met him a few times and we email every once in awhile. I have bought about $6,000 worth of stuff from him over the last few years, and am about to order another $1,500 this week. He has always treated me right and given me great prices on everything. He is an authorized seller for some brands (like Kicker for example) and will state this in each of his product descriptions. You get a full 2 year warranty thru Sonic on all Kicker stuff. Other brands he just wholesales, but most of the products he sells come with a 1 year Sonic Electronix warranty, which is just as good or better than a manufacturer's warranty. I've had nothing but good experiences with him and would recommend them to anyone:

Also if you find anything cheaper, use their "105% price match guarantee" in each of the product descriptions... you'll get an email or phone call letting you know if they can match or beat something. Their shipping is super cheap as well... most people rape you on shipping after discounting the actual product, but I think for a deck, component set, 2 amps and 2 10" subs, coming in 2 boxes and weighing about 100 lbs, he charged me $29 for UPS Ground. Can't beat that!

 

Crutchfield hands down is the most expensive source out there it seems. But they've a great site for searching, spec'ing and tutorials.

I questioned Crutchfield about that and they replied that they have higher prices to have better customer service. So I saved $500 and bought my amps some place else.

 

Do you have the navigation system for this head unit. I am thinking of getting it but have gotten mixed reviews.

 

One way i found to get prices is to determine what you want, search for it on Ebay, then call a couple of the vendors listing it to see what they will do. Need to be carful about how they back their sales up though. Sonicelectronix lists on ebay and if their back their ebay stuff like this thread says they do, should be good. Also, another thing i've found is that sometimes you can get better prices on ebay than you can in some of the web sites. If you find that, they will normally honor the ebay price, and sometimes they will match other ebay prices.
