Is Ebay a good site to buy subs and stuff?

hi everyone,

I just found a Pioneer subwoofer on ebay for $80.00 while crutchfield was selling the same sub for $179.99. Do you guys think ebay is a good place to buy subwoofers because it seems kinda like a big price difference.

Thanks,
Carl

Just make sure you buy from someone with excellent feedback. I have bought many car audio items off of ebay. You have to read everything closly though, due to a lot of sellers on ebay get the items cheaper, but are not authorized dealers so therefore do not have any type of warranty on what you are buying. The factory will not recognize your purchase or honor the factory warranty.

What sub are you looking to buy? Model? Size?

I may be able to help you out better.

Ebay can be a good place to buy, but you need to make sure you are not buying a refurbished subwoofer. Make sure the subwoofer is brand new.

Check all these pioneer subs out. These all come with a warranty from SonicElectronics. I have dealt with them many, many times and never had a problem. They are also on ebay, but somethings are cheaper on thier web site than ebay.

would not reccomend pioneer...stuff sounds like walmarts stereo stuff

buy alpine,rockford, mtx or kicker

audiobahn, pioneer, xplodes and others do not hit nearly as loud unless you want to shell out big dollars

i always buy subs only but make sure i buy my amps at a store because i like a warranty.... just cause subs taking a beating the amp cant

dont hate its just after 5 amps and 8 pairs of subs and 10 vehicles i can tell which sound good...wasnt impressed with pioneer in a large volume are maybe a del sol or something but it sounds bad in the truck

looks to me like you need to search google for some of these answers. Alot of us go with the non-department store name - higher quality subs like Stereo Integrity and ID. If I buy online though I normally go through onlinecarstereo.com, woofersect.com, sonicelectronix.com, or ebay.

not meaning to hijack the thread but how much rubbing do you get with those tires and the 2.5AS?

When you are deciding on buying your subs and are looking at the OHM rating you need to keep in mind what kind of amp you are going to purchase and how many ohms the amp is stable at. For example, I have two 10" Kicker Solo-Baric subs that are rated at 4 ohms each. If I connect them to the amplifier in a normal fashion then the amplifier will be running at 4 ohms and providing you with whatever power the amp is rated at for 4 ohms. Now if I bridge these subwoofers together I am now making the connection to the amplifier 2 ohms. With the amplifier at 2 ohms you can expect more power output as long as the amplifier is 2 ohm stable. I hope this clarifies what the ohm ratings is all about.

As a personal recommendation I would go with the 10" Kicker CVT's. My next door neighbor was in a competition at IASCA Finals in Daytona Beach, FL and said the Kicker CVT's were on display in a kicker vehicle and they sounded awesome. They are shallow mount subs as well. I would also get a kicker amp to push them as well. Good luck to you.

I have never bought a re-furbished speaker. However, i have bought plenty of re-furbished stereo equipment and have had great success with them...just my .02

Thanks for the replys i am starting to understand more about amps and subwoofers. Another question i have is that the sub says 300 RMS and i was wondering what happens if i run lower than 300W? does it harm the sub?

its not good for the sub your looking at 300 for a bestbuy amp or you can find a cheap rockford online

i got a 325 rockford pushing my setup

heres my current setup and its awesome

rockfords new amps have a very clean look to them

first f150 setup was 1200 legacy amp and 12 legacy subs(cheap amp caught fire)

then it was a 2400 watt rockford amp powering 2 rockford he2's(loud as hell)

the setup after that i ran 2 alpine type e's with the 2400 rockford amp(loud as hell)

after the e's i ran power acoustiks 12" 1800 watt subs to my 2400 rockford(decent sound)

after that i ran 2 alpine type r's 12" (very loud and clean look)

so i have had tons of subs i always decide to put new cleaner ones in my truck and have spent a fortune but it sounds like my new setups a keeper ...hope this helps
