underseat box
underseat box
hey guys, i am looking for an underseat sub box for my truck, its an 04 f150 supercab. I have a kicker L5 10" right now and cant seem to find anything round here that will work for my truck, and the one local shop i went to sayd he could do it, but it will take up all my foot room and i have people sit in my back seat so i cant have the leg/foot room taken up with a box. Do you guys have any ideas on where to get something or for some kind of plans to make a box. And i belive iv also seen some people lifting their seats up some for boxes under them? if so how is this done and do you use home made boxes or boxes bought from sumwhere. if anyone could help me out id appreciate it.
thanks
Josh

They have all types of boxes, but not sure you can get a 15" under the seat with proper air space.
Good luck.

i allready looked there, they dont make a box to fit the L5 10" sub, they only make boxes for the round subs, and my sub is the square one. so im guessing i either have to make my own or find a local shop willing to build one the way i want it i guess?
Ah, sorry. I didn't realize you had a square sub. Looks like your best option is have your local shop build it. Or you could do it yourself and save some dough. But maybe the headaches aren't worth it.....ha
Best of luck.

I don't know the mounting depth of that sub or the xmax...but that has to be taken in consideration when trying to fit the box under the seat (with or without a seat lift).
With a lmi seat lift...I'm pretty confident the most mounting depth/clearance you can get is what I have. Room for 6.75" MD and 2.25" of clearance (that's with 3/4" MDF).

thanks for the advice guys. iv decided to go with building my own box, i know theres going to be alot of headaches but im up for the challange, we built a super nice ported one for my s10 i had and it slammed, so im hoping we can come up with something jus as good for the ford.
So far iv taken a couple of peoples dimensions from different threads, and imgoing to make a box that go to the seat bracket on pass. side, since i only have one sub. even though i have debated on going all the way across for more airspace. What do you guys think? Also either way i do it, should i port it or not? not sure what the best sound would be with it ported or nonported.
Brypink2, would you happen to have any dimensions on this type of box or not? also what do you guys think about using 1/2" mdf, or stick with the 3/4 stuff. i think thats all for now
thanks guys
