It would depend on the amount of power that you have running threw the wire but the larger it is the more power you can run threw it with the least lose of power or heat buildup. Ultimatly it will sound a little better using the proper guage wire. I have 1 kicker L7 w/ a 400watt kicker amp and I used a 12guage to the sub. I think that if the box you have is a kicker box you will beable to get 8g, maybe 4g in there.

10g will be fine, it would save you the money of buying 12g.

What kickers are they the comps or the cvr's? Got a buddy with 2-12" cvr's and a 400w amp that rock his little colorado xtreme.

No harm in running thicker wires, go as high as you can. Also keep in mind the distance between the amp and sup, shorter could get away with smaller wire but I'd want bigger to carry more power much easier.

well my amp is litteraly.. less than 2 foot of wire away..

but im a little confused.. can i just use the 10 gauge power/ground type of wire as the speaker wire?.. or is it a diff type of wire? bc also.. im not sure that the 10 gauge will fit in the little slot that the box has.. for the sub connection

If it will fit 12 gauge it will most likely fit 10 as well. I have some 12 gauge that looks more like 16 IMO so be careful what the actual gauge is, they tend to exaggerate and some companies even include the insulation.

Two feet away go with 12 unless you have extra 10 that will fit in the amp, like I said bigger can't hurt, if it fits use it.

BTW, they will all fit if you just use the right connectors, there are so many connectors out there that will work with any gauge and still fit small areas.

ya.. the only problem i think i might have is connecting to the push in terminals on the box.. the amp i think i will be fine.. but still am not sure if i can just use power/ground cable.. is it all the same?.. or does it have to be "SPEAKER" wire..

Its max 400.1/ I talked him into the 750.1 so he will push them right below his 800w rms, so I am interested in seeing how this will affect the sound of his already very loud system. And to answer(try to) your question on the diffence in wire is "I think" that the speaker wire is shelded from RF interference were as the ground and power wire wont be effected, so you my see an improvement in the quality of sound, and again I dont know this but its just my thoughts maybe someone with a little more expertice in this will be able to tell you.
