Considering this setup....

I'm thinking of going with one 8" sub. I've had 2 10's and 2 15's before but I don't really care for the sound anymore. I like the punchy sound that you get from an 8 or two 8's and the clean sound that it puts out. With that said I think I am going to go with a Kicker Solo Baric and a PG 800 watt amp. Anyone want to comment on what this setup would sound like?

If I were going to go with 8's and was looking for SQ, I would probably go with 2 Arc Audio 8's and cleaner sounding amp. In fact, I was just thinking about trying two ARC 8's instead of a single 10 next.

I'm only looking for one good quality 8. If powered correctly I think that it should give me all the sound that I am looking for. I need some help with box demensions.

I play with 8's all the time... currently Im running a sincle elemental designs 9Kv.2 with 350ish watts in a ported box, i've also played with 2-4 resonant engeneering RE8's at one point, 8's are fun... but they lack cone area, my single 8 setup hits really hard (for an 8) the kick drum has kick, but the lack of cone area shows itself with low notes. so realistically I would run at least 2 8's, I'm personally going to run 4 8's sealed under the seat. but really 2 would be good enuff (I have the extra power might as well use it)

I recomend:

SoundSplinter Rl-i8's
Elemental Designs 9Kv.2's (really good SQ from my experience)
Acendant Audio, Assassin 8's
Digital designs 9005

the kickers would sound like poo, I'd go with the Soundsplinters, arc audio's, or eD's in a SQ setup

Wow, Ok. I will look into those. To be honest, I've never heard of any of those. I don't know a whole lot about car audio beyond the most known brands. I'm not really looking for thump as much as crisp bass and high sound quality.

I was kinda thinking that one 8" sub would be sufficent for what I wanted. I'm not looking for pounding bass. I just want complete sound. I had 2 Infinity 15's in my old car and that was good for the time, but I'm not really into that anymore. I'm getting a little ahead of myself right now anyway. I'm replacing my door speakers this Friday. Components up front and coaxial in the back. Sometime next month I will be getting a new HU. Once that is done, I will be getting some subs, an amp, and possibly a 4 channel amp for the door speakers.

i'm telling ya, 2 8's would be golden, I'm running one 8 right now as a SQ setup and it just doesn't have enuff cone area to handle the lower notes (20-40hz) which is important in a SQ install

just get two 8's it'll be one of the funnest setups you'll ever have since it'll give you an extended frequnce response over a single 8, not only that but 2 will give you a sensitivity advantage.... which means you only need half the power to get as loud as the single 8, then you have some overhead, and plenty of kick. really there is no reason not to run 2 8's sealed in a SQ install
