those are bad *** subs. Audiomobile is out of business now and have been for like 4 or 5 years or something like that. But those subs are the sh*t. A friend of mine ran them off a jbl 1200 and they were loud and clean. If you want to sell them i know he was wanting to get his hands on some b/c he had to sell them b/c he was pressed for money a couple years back. But if you are wanting to keep and use them, those are some nice sql subs. I know they set records when they first came out.
thats what my bro alwasy told me
yeah i know their out of business now....which sucks..
know why they went out??
im deffinatly going to run these....
i just need to sell my setup now =[
im going to build the box myself
im not sure if they are the 2412 or the 2012's......but i know they are one of the two...
i remember my brothers land rover rocked with them in their.
should i run a 1000 watt amp or 1200?? and what kind.....JL? Rockford iknow makes good amps.

they are 600 rms, so Ideally i think a 1200 watt amp would do them more justice, but no more than 1200... he blew the dust cap off one of them when he ran 1500+ rms to 2 of them. Then he made the switch to the jbl 1200 and never had any problems.
I can't remember why they went out of business ... i think i read that the owner started another company but can't remember the details.

also, you will need to find out for sure what the voice coil impedence is b/c that will come into play when you decide on an amp
My friend's MASS' were svc 4-ohms I believe... so you'd need to look at the rms ratings @ 2ohms.
Dont know how you feel about buying used but you should keep your eye on this http://cgi.ebay.com/Zapco-Reference-...QQcmdZViewItem
although you can't go wrong with this for the money http://cgi.ebay.com/JBL-GTO1201-1-12...QQcmdZViewItem

well if its dual 4's then look for amps ratings @ 1ohm
and if its dual 2 then wire the voice coils in series for a 2ohm rating on the amp
one good thing about the jbl is that its a T class amp meaning its rated the same @ 1 and 2 ohms

what advantage of the JBL would i have though?
what companies makes the best amps.....i know JL has amazing subs but i dont know about their amps.
i know Rockford Fosgate has great amps and speakers and there subs arent as good as some other companies.
and so forth..

pretty much depends on your budget and taste. Certain amps have a distinctive sound to them. For example I dont like to the way fosgate amps sound (although I havent heard their current line), yet the next guy to post will tell you how he LOVES his fosgate amp, so you just develop a preference. You should just listen to as many brands as possible and make your decision. Everyone has a different sound they want. If there are any audio competitions anytime soon in your area you should go and listen on people's setups. I find this extremely helpful. Its hard to make decisions based on other people's opinions of products.
Mono amps I have heard that have good sound are ZAPCO, Diamond Audio, Memphis, JBL, mtx (although durability has been an issue for me in the past).
Havent really liked the sounds fosgate amps ive heard, soundstream amps, and older hifonics amps.
How much are you looking to spend on an amp?
Also do research and make sure that the amp actually puts out the numbers it claims. For example, I have a hifonics bxi2006 (dontk now if thats the exact model number) and it says its a 2000 watt rms amp yet its more like a 1700-1800 watt amp. I knew that ahead of time and was actually looking for an 1800 watt amp so that worked out well for me.
Some amps will say they are CEA certified and will indicate that their power outputs are legit.

im hoping to get 550 for my current setup i spent about 700 on it and its about 6 months old.
so thats 550 for amp and supplies to build my box.
im going to buy my amp off ebay cause....i love ebay and has saved me alot of money in the past.
cause i have the subs...and they are already wired to the box.....alls i gotta do is take them and the connector out of the box and place it in the new box and connect the new amp.
how much do you think it will cost to buy the supplies? what all do i need...MDF, silicone to seal the box and carpet?
and what do you mean sound of amps? i sound so stupid asking this haha...i loved my bros rockford amp with it..

Most people probably wouldnt know the difference between amps... but if you hear enough systems you can tell a difference. For example a rockford fosgate amp will sound much different than an mtx amp on the same exact subs in the same box. For me, I didnt like the punchiness/sloppiness that fosgate had (the subs were IDQ's so the sloppiness wasnt due to the subs). The fosgate i had was a few years back so it was probably similar to your bros.... and thats kind of my point, you liked the way it sounded, so you should go with what you like. Im not saying fosgate is bad, b/c i havent heard any of their new stuff and they wouldnt be in business if everyone disliked their amps.... i just prefer other brands to fosgate. Also the crossovers are better/worse in certain amps.
everything for me to build my box was under 30 bucks. I bought the biggest 3/4" mdf board they had at home depot which was like 5x7 ft or something like that (which was enough for the entire box - cost like 21 bucks) and one of those huge liquid nail cylinders and gun. Then carpet is cheap... buy it from a car audio place or a carpet place in your area.. walmart has some but its not the greatest.
FYI - Those subs will fit for sure if you go the seat lift route.
so you will have a good 500 bucks left over if you get the 550 you were anticipating for your setup you have now... and $500 will buy you pretty much any amp you want in that power range.

i think im going with this amp. http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=44 good deal..has everyhting i need...and i love ED.
so like 380 for that shipped. leaves me 170 to build me a box and do a seat lift.
do you know how deep these subs are?

i think mounting depth is like 6.5" (not for sure tho) i know they had the same basket as the memphis HPO's I had at the time my friend had these AudioMobiles.
that amp will be a very good purchase if the voice coils are dual 4's, if they are dual 2's then they will only be getting 450 rms a piece and may be a little under powered.... i have heard a few different ED amps and liked them... as you already know, they are very solid amps.

yeah. i need to stay as cheap as i can with the amp without skimping on quality and power.
any other suggestions?
cause i am prob going to have to pay someone to install the amp and wire it up to the subs for me.
