F150Truckin Question

Sorry about the post but I could not PM (not enough post yet). Starting my Germ install and deadning this morning. Are you using the default xover settings? May mount xovers in map pockets but rather hide them behind the doors like yours. Any tips before I start?

I would recommend default xover settings until you break them in, maybe 10 to 15 hrs at a mid vol level.... then you can play with the setting if needed, I'm still using the default now..

If you mount the xovers under the panel there is a very little room and you will have to trim some the "mat" of the back of the door panel where the xover will be for clearance. also it must be mounted on the panel you will make to fill the big hole, it also must be mounted with the terminals down... test fit the xover under the panel with double sided tape before you screw it down and leave the tape under it the stop any rattles...

I would highly recommend mounting them on the back wall for it will be easier to adjust it needed... I was pressed for time and will be moving mine this spring when it warms up outside...

Feel free to ask any question you have, there are a few here with Germs and we'll help you out...

also what amp will you be using to push the Germs??
I would leave set the amp HPF no lower than 80hz to 90hz for break in, then you can go lower if needed, after break in, i'm now at about 65hz to 70hz... I would not go any lower than that even after break in..

I am running an Alpine mrp-f450 (70x4). I wanted to hide the xovers in the back but i have those **** molex connectors at the doors and after trying all saturday last week to fish wire through the driver side I gave up. So I guess for now I will mount them in the map pocket for access. My plans were for a Alpine pdx 4.150 (150x4) but I am afraid of that much power through stock speaker wire. As for high pass filters I use my Alpine 9855 HU which is now high passed at 80hz/18db for front and rear doors.

Cool, here is a good Calc for speaker wire and your stock wire size is 18ga...

you could use the bigger amp and set it to around 120W for 18ga at 5 ft run..

you can check it out...

Got them installed. Those door panels were a pain after deadning. Mounted the xovers in the map pockets (behind divider in front door). You can only see them with the doors open. Ran the wire through bottom of divider and attached them with Velcro. Can make xover changes quickly. Thanks for the pics and advice they were a great help!

Good deal, post some pics when you get time and a small review of the Rainbows for other members...
