It's made of 5/8, not going to have the best bass response... But would be worth giving it a try...

Exactly what i was thinking. I thought I had found the perfect box for my idq's then saw that. I'm going to build the same box just out of 3/4 of course and see if i can get a total net of 2.0 or over. It'll really make those idq's sound great and make them hit those low's. As soon as swim season is over in 3 weeks i'll be getting started.

Just the overall density of the wood. Obviously a more dense heavier sheet of plywood is going to hold a much stronger structure, were the less dense will be more forgiving.

No no, thicker is better. 3/4 is thicker than 5/8. You want an unforgiving structure that wont move, thats why you dont build boxes out of particle board.

Kool
but, I'm getting that box and taking the carpet off and painting it.
Would it be possible to ad another 1/4 inch of MDF to it?

Depending on your setup you might be fine with 5/8th inch wood.
In an aplication like under the seat of our trucks, where every little bit of space counts, 5/8ths isnt a bad idea. AS LONG AS you dont get crazy with what your putting in there.

Being a prefab box its probably not braced at all, so I might be a little careful about what you put in it, and maybe even add some of my own bracing if I though it needed it; but if you were to make your own out of 5/8th, do it right with bracing and what not, and didnt get crazy, it would work out quite nicely for a little extra space.
