Question about box air space

I am going to buid a box similar to this one
http://musicmooseaudio.com/ford_f_150f_single.html
My question is:
Is the whole box open for air space even the side where it steps up.

Yes its all open air, even the step up part. Make sure you add more room for the sub to flex than the musicmoose version.

Or use a subwoofer grill if your using a high excursion sub (Like most people do)....because you won't get 5-1/2" top mount depth if you recess the sub anymore than the way we build them. The musicmoose

Sorry but a grill is just a band aid. You should not have to use a grill. A grill is going to smash against the surround and still not sound its best. You guys really should think about a redesign of your box or put a disclaimer on your web site that states only works with some subs. Mounting depth is not the only issue. I had one of your boxes for about a week. I tried 3 subs in it and they all either sat on the carpet or flapped against it while playing. Of all the premade boxes that are made for our trucks, yours is the only one I see this kind of complaint about. The box I have now I got locally for a fraction of the cost and there are no carpet hitting issues. And this is a premade mass quantity box designed for our truck.

I would really like to build my own but finding the time with two little ones running around is a challenge. I am still up in the air about buying one or just saving the $100 and making my own. I do like the way the musicmoose fits under the seat though.

Hey. I just realized you are in Tulsa. I am in Claremore. If you want a suggestion go to Big Dog's Car Audio on Admiral. It is between Memorial and Sheridan, closer to Sheridan, on the south side of the road. They have a ton of premade boxes. That is where I got my dual 10" box. I am not positive if they have single sub boxes for our truck but, I only paid $55 for my dual box. That was tax included. Gave them $55 cash and got the box. It is a really nice box too. I was ready to pay them over $100 for it. Might save you a bunch of time and money.

I will also have my dual box for sale if you want it. As soon as my Mag arrives, I will not need it. You could come over and pick it up.

I do not have any pics of it in the truck but, there are a couple of pics of the subs installed in it in my gallery. Fits good. Once you get it under there and put the seats down on it, it is not going any where.

From looking at the pics, I don't see how the sub wouldn't hit the floor. Guess I would have to see it in person. How much you going to want for just the box.

My subs do not hit the floor(Image IDQ 10's). And the price would be really, really cheap. Like free but, only if you would use it

I wish I could but, I will be using it till my Mag gets here. If the person ships it out today, I should get it by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. You can have the box as soon as the Mag comes in. Sound fair enough?
