Replacement Speaker Troubles

Today I bought two MTX 5x7 speakers to replace my rear stock ones. I put them in and they sound great, but they are not loud at all. I really don't know crap about audio, but my stock speakers were 25 watts and the new ones are 60. The front speakers completely overpower them, and if I adjust it so only the rears are on then I can barely hear them. Did I do something wrong?

I know that having more watts does not really mean it will be louder. I did think, however, that it would at least be as loud as the stock ones were. I mean it is a huge difference.

Couldn't tell you. I bought them from a friend without a box. The only reason I knew the ohms was because it was printed on the back of the speakers.

Lets put it like this. If watts were pounds what do you think would be easier to lift? 25 or 60? With that theory the new speakers probably need more power to push them to the same levels as the old speakers.

Course this isn't always 100% true but I'd be willing to bet this time it is.

In the ideal setup, this is what you want. You want your front speakers to be louder. If you really want loud rear speakers, you may need to amp all the speakers. Front stage is what SQ is all about.

Well like I said I really don't know anything about audio. I thought that maybe there was a simple fix or I had done something wrong. Right now I just have my stock CD player and I've been told that if I get a better one, it will make it louder. Is this true?
