Question PLZ HELP~not getting any power

ok guys.. i started to wire up my amp and sub today.. so far i have everything hooked up except the rca cables bc i have to buy a converter.. but heres the thing.. when i was hookin it all up.. first i hooked up the remote power on/off into the fuse that goes with the radio.. so that it would turn on when the radio turns on.. and when i did that.. the blue leds on the amp came on.. BUT the power cable wasnt even attactched to the battery yet.. but the leds stayed on for a few mins.. and then took my eyes of of them.. ( this is with the key off and out of the ingnition) then went to hook up the power to the battery.. adn then went to the cab again to turn it on to see if i had power.. well b4, it was runing (the leds) when the key was off and no cable.. now .. w/ the battery hooked up, the leds or the amp it self doesnt hookup.. i checked all the fuses.. and there all ok.. the truck run fine.. and im completely lost.. the only things i can think of are the cause.. is that it says on the manual of the amp, that it says atleast 8 ga. wire for power.. i bought an amp kit that runs 10 ga... i figure its fine.. but tell me what you think, and my other idea is possibly that since the rca cables arent hooked up with the converter which will hook up the the speakers, isnt hooked up yet.. i dunno... BUT PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Since you say you need a converter for the RCAs I assume you have a stock radio. You need to make sure that you are hooking the remote turn on wire up to an accesory switched power source and not a continuous power source. So that it will only turn on when you turn the key on. Also this might be a stupid question but is the ground hooked up?

wiring info from www.the12volt.com (btw I posted this in the amp area as well.) he's correct in that you need to tap into the remote turn on wire, and not the fuse block. The fuse block will have constant power for the HU because of the clock and what not.

Radio 12v lt. green/purple + radio harness
Radio Ground black and black/lt. green - radio harness
Radio Ignition pink/black or lt. green/yellow + radio harness
Radio Illumination lt. blue/red (dimmer) + radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on dk. green/purple + radio harness
Notes: This is the subwoofer amplifier turn on lead. The subwoofer and amp are in the driver side rear corner of the cabin. The subwoofer speaker wires are brown/orange (+), and red/black (-) at the radio harness.
Power Antenna N/A
LF Speaker +/- orange/lt. grn - lt. blue/wht +,- radio harness
RF Speaker +/- white/lt. grn - dk. green/org +,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- gray/lt. blue - tan/yellow +,- radio harness
RR Speaker +/- orange/red - brown/pink +,- radio harness

I agree with the above. The "first i hooked up the remote power on/off into the fuse that goes with the radio" has me a bit confused. Check the wiring diagram above and make sure your remote is hooked to the wire themetermcse bolded.
