Just completed new speakers, sub and amp

The audio items installed in my 07 KR. Factory head unit has been kept.

Items installed:
Rockford Fosgate 3100 amp
CompVR10 sub
Infinity speakers 6x8 on each door

First impressions - overall, great improvement over factory stereo (the factory system did not include a subwoofer). But the factory head unit leaves alot to desired - with only bass and treble adjustment, it still is difficult to get the highs and the lows. It's as if the highs of the highs and the lows of the low are not getting sent to the speakers. I suppose the only way to solve the problem is to get an aftermarket head unit.

Finding a switched line to tap into was a challenge. For reference, on the main radio harness at the back of the head unit, the switched line is green with yellow strip.

I suppose the next step will be a head unit replacement.

Take a look at the Rockford Fosgate 360.2 processor. It takes the high level in from the deck and corrects the factory processed (not for the better at high volume) signal then runs it through a massive 31 band independant front channel 27 band rear and 10 band sub eq and has time alignment as well as a crossover with 5 volt preamp outputs. Everything is adjustable through a palm pilot useing bluetooth so it can be completely hidden away. They also make a more basic model, the 360.1 that still gives you 5v preamp an eq and crossover. One of these units will take care of the sound quality and leave it looking totally stock.
