i ordered an adapter plate from an internet source, the plate is too small to fit around the 6.5 Focal 165V1's, i guess i can dremel out the plate to make it fit, but does the plate just hold the speaker into the door by pressure, or does the speaker screw into anything? it seems you put the plate over the speaker, and screw the plate to the door, and it holds the speaker inside the plate... kind of wimpy..

 

take oof the door panel and cut the oem speaker mount back about an inch. mount the speaker to the door install the interior skin over that

 

Screw the adapter plate where the factory speaker was, then screw the speaker to te adapter plate...

 

or you can screw the speaker into the door and screw the adapter plate all-together
