Not impressed with the BM.
Not impressed with the BM.
So I did the full install on my 10" SI BM. I am not impressed at all, so not impressed that I am sending it back. It wasn't any louder than my 10" punch P2 I had in my truck before this one. It never bottomed out though that is one thing I liked about it, but it would not produce lows. I had it hooked to an alpine MRD M605 which is a 600 Watt mono channel amp. I had it wired in parallell pushing it at a 2 Ohm load... Overall, I was thouroughly not impressed. So now I will be keeping the amp, sending the sub back and my search continues for the perfect sub that meets my criteria.

What box did you have it in????
so wait... you used the same amp and same box and were expecting miricles to happen just by changing subs? and only one 10 at that? with only 600 watts? sealed? ya I wouldn't be seeing any miricles either

That actually suprises me. Sure you had it wired and set up right? Box?
How long did you play it?
That sucks.
Dconder, he only has one...

I can definitely tell you the MAGs are not crap...and willing to put my money where my mouth is.
So...don't jump to conclusions and start posting like that.
I wasn't overly impressed but later on when my BM10 broke it I really started to notice a difference. I used the same box but a different amp. I wish I would of got a mono block but I had a change of plans after I bought the 4 channel JBL amp. Next week I'll be installing the BM10 in a larger box paired up with a (don't **** on me) 10 polk momo. Both have their own air chambers so this shouldn't create a problem. Anyways this should be interesting until I save the dough for another BM10 and a strong mono amp.
I didn't say it was crappy, in fact some people would love the sound of it im sure, it just didn't fit my taste. I was running the P2 with a fosgate 201s amp, which pushes maybe 150 watts at the most. I bought a 600 watt Alpine v12 series amp to push the BM in the same box. The box has .65 cubic ft of airspace. Once again, the sub may be great for other's taste, it just didnt fit mine as the sub did not handle lows very well at all. I do believe if i had it in a box with with 1 cubic ft of airspace it would have handled the lows better I just do not have the room for that kind of air space with out a seat lift and I was not looking to do that. As far as the miracle comment, when you spend $150 on a system and then look to upgrade, and you spend $500 on the upgraded system, yes I do expect it to outperform the $150 system.

Then I'm confused. You said the BM didn't bottom out like your last sub...but your last sub out performed the BM?
If hitting lower was the problem...then yes, a slightly bigger box or at least let it break in a bit like mentioned.
But...like you said...if you don't like it, then you don't like it...and that is all that matters. I haven't really come across a 10" that hits lows they way I like (except maybe a 10W7 or IDMAX).
Sorry it didn't work out for you.

yea, a 10 is not going to hit the lows very well. theyre made more for tight, punch bass.
the wattage on an amp is the maximum that it can produce. that sub could handle 600watts RMS. you could have put a bigger amp on the sub.
also, did you allow for break in? run the amp at half power for 10 hours or so and then turn the amp up. until you follow all this then you don't really have a basis to complain.
