How many watts are needed for my new sub?

hey guys, after searching around a little bit i like what i see in the Alpine SWS-1242D 12'

What size(amps) mono-amp should i go with to power one of these bad boys?

And also do you recomend another sub i should look at insted of this one? My budget it small.. looking to keep it under $175.

I plan on building my own down fireing box with the help of my friend who is a electonic wiz and knows all about the correct size and airspace of the box. If anyone has already build a box for this let me know.

Thanks!

The Alpine MRP-M450 would power it very well and it pretty inexpensive. Are you putting that under your rear seat? I know in the 2004 and up, that sub is too deep without a seat lift or some very creative box making skills.
