Looking to upgrade factory speakers...

So I really need to upgrade all four of my factory speakers, like, now (I have an '02 extended cab f150 by the way). Here are my questions:

1. Components in the front or just a good pair of 3-way speakers? (would 2-way be fine too?)
2. Correct me if I'm wrong, if I went the component route I would have to drill some holes for the tweeters since my f150 model doesn't have factory tweeter holes right?
3. Most people here seem to have bad opinions on Infinity speakers. I was looking to go for some Polk Momo 570's in the front (if I went 2-way in the front that is) and then what speaker would be best for the back? Crutchfield says the Polk's dont fit in the rear.

I'm fairly new at the whole car audio thing (I have the basics down) but I definitely don't want to skimp on anything but at the same time have a very limited budget (full-time college student). I think for now I just want to get some really good door speakers and an amp to drive them. Subs will be down the road when I save up some more money. Oh, and I have a sony HU right now which has to stay for now.

2 way or 3 way would probably be fine. I put components in my truck. I have the Infinity Reference 6810cs in the front and Infinity Reference 6812cf in the rear. I love my Infinity's. The are clear at all sound levels. I am running these off a JVC HU. I am not running an amp. Your Sony HU should be just fine.

Whatever you don't buy some $20 specials. Spend a little money now and you will be happier. You don't have to spend alot of money, but don't cheap out.

How do you like them just running them off the HU? I'm trying to avoid a huge project on upgrading my components from the audiophile system too. I have the Pioneer Z1 HU which seems pretty powerful. The Infinity Reference 6810cs seem to stack up well against everyone I've compared to (Boston acoustics, rainbow, and a couple others on crutchfield.com) with good sensitivity levels, silk tweeters and other specs.

Was it just a plug n' play deal for you?
